Something BIG is coming to Geelong this summer…
We’re excited to introduce the Creative Team who will lead Geelong Lyric Youth Theatre’s first-ever Summer Intensive — bringing The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical to the Geelong Arts Centre in January 2027!

But this is about much more than putting on a show.
Our Summer Intensive is an opportunity for young performers aged 10–17 to spend two weeks developing their skills, working with experienced creative professionals, learning from guest music theatre professionals, and experiencing the excitement of creating and performing a musical in a professional theatre.
And for aspiring creatives aged 16–25, there will also be opportunities to join our Production Mentorship Program, gaining hands-on experience alongside our creative and production team.

The Geelong Lyric Theatre Society is deeply saddened by the passing of our much-loved Life Member and former President, Lisa Hunter.

Lisa served as President from 2016 to 2021, leading our company with extraordinary generosity, creativity and care. She poured her heart and soul into Lyric in so many ways — through artistic design, set painting and dressing, producing, program design, and even designing the GLTS logo we proudly use today.

Lisa’s contribution to our theatre community is immeasurable. Her talent, vision and unwavering support helped shape countless productions and the company we are today. More than that, she was a valued friend and an invaluable part of the Lyric family.

Lisa’s funeral service and end-of-life celebration will be held on Monday 31 August, from 12pm–3pm at RACV Torquay Resort, 1 Great Ocean Road, Torquay. Guests are asked to arrive 10 minutes early, and wearing colour is encouraged.

Our thoughts are with Lisa’s family, friends and all who had the privilege of knowing and working with her.

Thank you, Lisa, for everything you gave to Lyric. Your creativity, kindness and legacy will always remain with us. 💙
