Geelong Open Mic Comedy is thrilled to announced MAZZ MATTA will be joining our monthly Comedy Writing Group in an ongoing capacity as our Mentor-In-Residence!

Mazz has been performing comedy for nearly a decade. With a unique style that combines character, clowning, absurdity and delight, he is a beloved comedian in both Melbourne and Geelong, with a regular, (often) sold-out residency at the Speakeasy Theatre on Flinders Street, and frequent appearances at Friday Night Comedy at the Nash and Comedy Underground.

Come join us this Sunday at 4pm Here & Now Lounge to meet Mazz and get comedy advice from a pro!

It's Geelong Comedy Writing Group this Sunday before Open Mic! An informal drop in to chat all things comedy, get help with that joke, or just hang with like minded peers. Come join us in the Here & Now Lounge at 4pm, enjoy some snacks and drinks from the bar (both alcoholic and non!) and then get up at 6pm to try your new material!

Open Mic 2 November. Post 2 of 2 - LATE NIGHT FESTIVAL EDITION! The fast and the funniest! Our open mic'ers made killer impressions to the packed room of enthusiastic Geelong Comedy Festival punters. In this set, first timer first timer Jacob (!!), Shannon, first timer Magdalena (!!), Annette (new to our room!), David Tulk, Samwise Hemmings, Stevie Stix and [FESTIVAL HEADLINER] CHRIS (bringing the joy!)

All under the rapid fire wit and rapid MCing of the divine Nicky Barry!

Now we need a lie down.

Open Mic 2 November. Post 1 of 2 - LATE NIGHT FESTIVAL EDITION! It was fast, it was a blast, a comedy colonoscopy that put our open mic'ers to the test. And they all passed with flying colours (and some flying glasses too). In this set, Trent, Jimmy, first timer Mack, Mervyn, Noah, Rabbit, Ryan and Derek shone in quick fire 3 minute sets, while MC Nicky Barry kept the night smooth and lubed!

WOW-O-WOWZA!! Open Mic had its biggest and most insane night yet! We loved closing the Festival with what has to be the fastest open mic ever in the history of open mics. 17 fantastic comedians, including three first timers, plus six Geelong Comedy Festival comics, smashing though 3 minute sets (as well as smashing several sets of drink glasses to the floor!) in 65 minutes!!! Pics coming soon, including of the packed out room of punters.

What a fun, insightful, and playful day at Geelong Library for our So You Think You Can Comedy? workshops as part of this year's Geelong Comedy Festival!!

We loved Mazz Matta, Nicky Barry, Liam Erck and PJ White of the Laughter Party, Gavin Baskervile and Takashi Wakasugi sharing their knowledge and experience with us about comedy writing, improvisation, and stand-up delivery!

We're overjoyed to have met so many creative, intelligent and funny Pivotonians keen to get involved in comedy. For all who attended, welcome to our comedy community! We look forward to spending more time with you at Open Mic, Writing Group, and weekly improv!
