Back to Back Theatre were deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Founding Chair, ๐๐จ๐๐๐ข๐ ๐๐จ๐๐ ๐ last week.
When Back to Back Theatre became an incorporated association in 1996 and left the tutelage of Corilong Disability Services, arts producer and executive Bobbie Hodge stepped forward to be the chair of the newly formed Back to Back Theatre Inc Board. For the next 10 years Bobbie steered the governance of the fledgling organisation, working with four different executive teams and twenty-nine board members across her tenure. In the companyโs journey of significant capacity building, Bobbieโs philosophical laser-light always kept focus on the ensembleโs artistic vision and art making in the Geelong community.
In reflection of Bobbieโs leadership, long-time Back to Back Ensemble members Sarah Mainwaring, Simon Laherty and Scott Price stated โ โ๐ฐ๐ ๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐

Artistic Director Bruce Gladwin described Bobbie as a generous and wise human being. Bobbie will be remembered as a cultural leader who passionately championed Back to Back Theatre and all artists with disabilities.
On standing down from the chair role in 2006 Bobbie remained a board member until 2016. Bobbie volunteered her time and executive genius to the company for 20 years, and remained deeply committed to her connection to the company. We pay our deep respect to her life and the contribution she made to the cultural sector, and the instrumental role she played in the establishment of Back to Back Theatre.
