You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown was originally staged in 1967 with music and lyrics by Clark Gesner and later in 1999 with revisions by Andrew Lippa. Schulz in his comic strip Peanuts - a syndicated daily and Sunday U.S. comic strip originally running from 1950 to 2000, continuing in reruns. Peanuts is among the most popular and influential in the history of comic strips and is "arguably the long

est story ever told by one human being". Peanuts ran in over 2,600 newspapers, with a readership of around 355 million in 75 countries, and was translated into 21 languages. Peanuts focuses on a social circle of young children, where adults exist but are rarely seen or heard. The main character, Charlie Brown, is meek, nervous, and lacks self-confidence. He is unable to fly a kite, win a baseball game, or kick a football held by his irascible friend Lucy, who always pulls it away at the last instant! You're A Good Man Charlie Brown is a whimsical and inspiring family musical, innovative in its humor and driven by the characters' interactions and relationships with each other that make this a show for everyone. The award-winning team for this production is well known to Geelong audiences and theatre goers. Directing the production will be Green Room Nominated and Guild Award Winning Director, Paul Watson (We Will Rock You, Wicked, Tick Tick Boom, Jersey Boys, Once) and Choreography will handled by Guild Award Winning and Green Room nominated Choreographer, Venessa Paech (Wedding Singer, Rent, We Will Rock You, The Boy From Oz, How To Succeed In Business, Chicago). Performance Dates for this production will be limited to 1 (one) week only - from the 11th to the 13th of January 2024 - including matinee and even a morning performance to accommodate family friendly theatre options during the holiday season across all of Geelong, The Bellarine Peninsula, Surf Coast and even day trips for our regional and city friends. What's On? Production Company announces electrifying Pro/Am production of We Will Rock You at Costa Hall, Geelong.

GEELONG, AUSTRALIA – WHAT’S ON? PRODUCTION COMPANY (YOU’RE A GOOD MAN CHARLIE BROWN & THE DUMB WAITER) are thrilled to announce its upcoming Pro/Am production of We Will Rock You - The smash-hit musical written by Ben Elton, featuring the iconic music of Queen.

This strictly-limited season will light up Costa Hall, delivering an unforgettable fusion of Rock, Powerhouse Vocals and Futuristic Fun!

Set in a world where live music is banned and individuality is a crime; We Will Rock You follows a group of rebellious Bohemians fighting to bring back real Rock 'n' Roll to the people.

Featuring 24 of Queen's greatest hits, including "Bohemian Rhapsody", "Another One Bites The Dust', "Somebody To Love" and "We Are The Champions... This high-energy spectacle is a celebration of freedom, music and the enduring legacy of one of the greatest bands of all-time!

"This production will be about community, creativity and connections" says Paul Watson, Artistic Director for What's On? Production Company. "By combining both professional talent, (especially the possiblilty of some local professional talent), with passionate local emerging performers, we believe we're able to create a show locally in Geelong that truly ROCKS on many levels! - Both on and off the stage."

The Pro/Am model birngs together experienced industry professionals and talented local performers, offering not only Geelong audiences a show that rivals major metropolitan productions while supporting the regions ever growing creative community, but by also providing great and unique opportunities for local performers to share the Costa Hall stage with, and learn from, experienced musical theatre professionals and practictioners in a mentoring capacity.

"We are very excited to present this unique production with a deep leaning towards celebrating the musical legacy of Queen" says Mr. Watson, "and in particular, celebrating the grand and epic proportions that Freddie Mercury, Brian May, Roger Taylor and John Deacon injected into their music, both live and in the studio. To do this we have a few surprises up our sleeve, but the one surprise we are most excited about is the planned incorporation of our WE WILL ROCK YOU CHOIR which we hope will be made up of many local singers who just want the chance to sing Queen music, and, to help us raise the roof and lift the volume to 11!"

The creative team for this production will be made up of mostly local creatives and heads of departments... including local Director and Artistic Director of What's On?, Paul Watson. Paul recently returned from touring Australia and Asia in the international touring production of Wicked, as Father Frex, before ending up contracted into the dual roles of Dr. Dillamond and The Wizard Of Oz in South Korea.

Local theatre Choreographer, Venessa Paech joins with Nathan Firmin, returning to Geelong as Musical Director. This team has worked together on several celebrated musical theatre productions in Victoria including Jersey Boys, The Boy From Oz and We Will Rock You, and are excited to be bringing this theatrical experience to the Geelong stage. "I'm excited to be home" says Paul Watson, "Now feels like a great time to bring something really epic to Geelong and with Wicked finishing it's international run, I'd love to focus on something grand and celebratory for Geelong musical theatre audiences, our amazing music and tribute band fans and all our local performers, dancers, singers and musicians to enjoy."

Performances will be held at Costa Hall, Geelong, for a strictly limited one-weekend season on the 26th and 27th of February 2027

Tickets for Geelong Arts Centre Members go on sale Monday 27th July from the GAC Website, with general ticket access from August.
