Hi again from the Live Music Locator team- Lml.live.

Hope some of you out there have been discovering new gigs through Lml.live which we are piloting through to the end of September with all the 87 live music venues in the City of Yarra. We are hoping to expand to other parts of metro and regional Victoria soon. More on that later.

And to this weeks spotlight as we continue to celebrate the live music scene, and to champion the artists, the venues, and the venue-owners that keep things ticking – the ones who offer gigs, host gigs, and play the gigs that allow punters to connect with the music world.

Hana Brenecki is a musician whose very existence is built around playing shows and connecting with an audience.

We’re having a chat with Hana and asking her to reflect on both her first gig, and the importance of small-to-medium-sized venues.

Having performed countless gigs around Adelaide, Melbourne, and beyond, Hana has been performing as a solo artist, with artists such as Kate Alexander, as a member of groups like The Sloe Ruin, and can currently be found up the front of Hana & Jessie-Lee’s Bad Habits.

Needless to say, having served as a fixture of the Australian live scene for many years, it’s clear that Hana is an artist you need to know if you’re not already a diehard fan.

There’s something special about a Typewriter isn’t there - in this case the Adler, made in ‘Western’ Germany.
This morning we bid farewell to Jane Tuttle who had been here as our writer-in-residence this week. We had left The Adler on the desk which Jane and her daughter Frankie ended up tapping away on over the week, leaving sweet messages of thanks and a sense of their time here. Thanks Jane for the gift. My weekend read sorted.

Part European film, part immersive theatre and a whole lot of unbridled pleasure - this ridiculous, farcical foray of fun starred long-time collaborator with Circus Oz and Dislocate Matt Wilson, the inimitable top flight physical comedienne Rani Huszar, award winning master and maestro of the moment Daniel Oldaker and variety superstar Tara Boom.

Such a fun weekend of enlightening art and cosy conversations as we welcomed to EBAH an old college colleague, art theorist, Peter Hill, fell in to the alluring work of Cressida Campbell and Margaret Preston at Geelong Gallery, then a short stroll across the road to the Worlding exhibition and floor talk at Platform Arts, before a chilly sunset promenade along Eastern Beach. Winter ain’t all that bad and lots to enjoy this winter in Geelong, come on down!
