I came across Ashley and her Powertex stall at the Perth convention centre, I was amazed by what I read and heard about Powertex. In 2019 I got to use this incredible medium and got my hands dirty! I have never turned back I prefer this product range over anything I have brought before, it is my one stop shop. I have attended many of Ashleys workshops over the years and love her approach to teachi
ng it fits my style of learning. I have loved studying the Certified Powertex Trainers Online Course. It has challenged me on many fronts, and I have grown exponentially in my understand of the products and their applications. I have at times found working with technology and live streaming confronting and I have achieved all with Ashleys support. I had a very creative time in my childhood under the influence of my mother, who ran school holiday art and craft sessions in the garden at home for all the local children. These holiday art session where a highlight of my year as I got to explore different mediums. And share ideas with other likeminded souls. On the final day parents were invited in for afternoon tea where the dining room was set up with all the artwork like a gallery. At high school I studied Art and Design, enjoying the new experiences of silk screen printing, costume making and sculpture work. Through my business as a dance teacher, I hosted many shows, choreographing dances, writing scripts, set design, costume design and working with large groups of people to bring about a rewarding experience for all. A late bloomer to academics I attended Waikato University in Hamilton New Zealand at the age of 43 yrs. My focus was Primary Education and primarily the Arts – music, dance, drama, and visual art. Spending many years teaching special needs students, I have found the Arts has been the best vehicle to teach lessons in a fun and interactive way. I like to make Art Craft Dolls, and in 2023 got to workshop with Jill Maas (NZ). I also like to make miniatures and experiment with tiny treasures. I have developed an interest in pyrography/poker work inspired by my uncles in the UK. Water colour is a new journey and has proved very rewarding. In 2023 I was encouraged to enter my work in 3 exhibitions one of which she took out the top prize for a sculpture named “Welcome in”. I am currently working through the Certified Powertex trainers’ online course – Ashley hay Academy for with mixed media, so that I may run workshops and share the joy of creating with others. My door is always open, and I am forever willing to teach, and lend a hand, and network with others interested in creating art and craft.
