Little Legs Art Classes

Little Legs Art Classes Rockhampton art classes for children aged 7 and older. 3 classes a week (Wednesday & Friday arvo and Saturday morning). Hi! My name is Johanna.

Classes run with the QLD public school calendar. Terms alternate between drawing and painting. I've been teaching kids fine art class for 8 years and I am passionate about helping kids reach their artistic potential. Everything I teach is backed by the elements and principles of art and design. With these foundations, children learn to express their creativity through a range of mediums including:


Pencil
Pastels
Gold and silver leaf
Ink
Watercolour
Acrylic paint on canvas
… and lots more

Terms are structured and are generally 8-weeks long. Each term has a different focus and explores a different medium. Children progressively gain new skills each week which are applied to a major piece at the end of term. Please note:
- this is not a craft class
- classes are limited to 9 students
- my miniature dachshund (Daisy) "supervises" each lessons and provides encouragement cuddles
- catch-up classes are available within each term
- I hold a valid Blue Card
- terms fees are due week one of the term

About me! I started doing art classes when I was six. My favourite medium is acrylic on canvas. I have had my artwork displayed in the National and State galleries. I teach because I love to.

This term, students will explore acrylic painting on canvas through the detailed study of realistic eyes. Drawing inspiration from both human and animal subjects, they will develop their observational drawing skills and refine their painting techniques.

Across the 8-week program, students will also deepen their understanding of colour theory, composition, texture, and form.

Looking to make some charcoal masterpieces at home? Here's everything you need for under $40.

stocks:
Willow charcoal
Compressed charcoal (charcoal pencils are great)
A kneadable eraser
Smudge sticks
A hogs hair paintbrush
Lastly grab some hairspray (any brand will do)

If you're looking to move outside your art diary, pastel paper is best (160gsm). It's fun to play on coloured paper too!

Please note, it's best to do an online order as Officeworks Rockhampton doesn't always have all products in stock. Enjoy!

Throughout the 8-week term, students will use charcoal to create a range of artworks, including still life studies, landscapes, animals, and more.

Term 3 kicks off this week! I have one spot available in the Saturday class (9am - 10:30am).

This is a seven week painting term. Using gouache and pens students will explore mark making and colour theory.
