First long day back in the studio and I had a LIST 📝

The list:
❌ 4 tumblers
❌ 2 berry bowls
❌ 2 butter keepers
❌ 2 garlic graters
❌ roll out clay for trees
✔️ glaze a bowl (one win!)
❌ porcelain & white clay ONLY

What actually happened:
Speckled clay said hello 👋 and somehow I made an oil pourer, garlic pot, grater bowl, mini pestle & mortar with grater, a snail 🐌, a squirrel 🐿️, a mini salt pig (well, the beginnings of!), a mini salt spoon and 3 tumblers in white clay. Oh and glazed that bowl 😂

The porcelain didn’t even see the wheel. Not once.

The snail is my pace of throwing. The squirrel is my brain that cannot follow a list, gets distracted and goes oooo squirrel! 🐿️ Together they explain everything.

(this is me - Georgie!) is proud to be part of a movement of 850+ verified artisans standing together to bring the spotlight on handmade.

For me, handmade means connection.

It’s the quiet magic of someone’s hands shaping something from nothing. The time, care, instinct and energy held in a piece. The echo of craft passed through generations, reworked in a new way, by a new pair of hands.

Handmade carries soul. It carries story. It turns an object into something you feel.

Such a special day today visiting the legendary late John Leach’s pottery at Mulcheney with my parents and daughter. John Leach's Muchelney Pottery and Gallery

Hearing about the kiln room, family history and firings from the vibrant was incredible - it was so wonderful to hear her passion and dedication to her apprenticeship and love for her family pottery! We then were fortunate to meet , watch him triumph a plate, and got the chance to ask questions about his work was one of those really inspiring pottery moments.

And the shop… so much beautiful work. I absolutely left with a few pieces very carefully wrapped for the flight home!
