Happy 20th Birthday to my daughter and constant inspiration. 🤍

A daytime nursing student, avid wanderlust traveller and emerging creative, you’re a huge part of my why. I love that you’ve even claimed your own stash of clay in my box… even if you’re still pinching my glazes.

So proud of you and all that’s ahead. Happy Birthday, my girl. 🫶

For one stem. Or matches. Or nothing at all.

Carved, burnished, minimal glaze or left unglazed.

Softened facets, an uneven texture and a slightly wonky rim

Raw, quiet and enough on its own.

This photo on the left popped up on my personal fb today - and the photo on the right is what I had on the shelf yesterday waiting to fire. 13 years apart - a reminder of my journey on madeit.com.au - from making appliqué and print designs that made my Monkeys Over The Moon to creating with clay that makes me over the moon here at Folly&Form! Not quite the same following or market but funny how my designs in some ways are flowing through! 🫶🏽

My pottery journey to date since last July but rooted in a childhood of clay/creativity - framed beautifully by Crafted Clay Market. Come meet me and see and touch my creations on 12th July at South Perth Community Centre 11-4pm - there will be a collection of both folly & form!

A few sneaky peeks at what’s heading to market next month…

Soft neutrals, moody blues, iron-washed pieces, and a few glaze combinations that have me very excited.

There’s still plenty sitting in the bisque kiln and glaze kiln, so even I don’t know exactly what’s coming out yet.

For now, I’m taking a little break from making while I focus on family and wait for the next kiln loads to work their magic.

Until then, here’s a glimpse of what’s quietly coming together behind the scenes.

Which piece would you pick first?

☕ Started the day at .potters.market (the crack den for clay people in Perth).

🛍️ Dropped off firing. Picked up clay and glazes “just to look”… somehow they followed me home.

🏺 Studio time.

☕ Coffee.

🍪 snacks

☕ More tea.

🤔 Avoided making porcelain handles and made a porcelain gonk instead.

🧱 Rolled out clay.

✂️ Trimmed a mug.

💥 Broke 3 handles.

🥃 It’s a tumbler now.

♻️ One handle refused to accept its fate and reincarnated as a tiny gonk.

And don’t let anyone tell you that the hour I popped into the studio for wasn’t a productive 4.5 hours.

Zero regrets.

After staring at shelves of handmade ceramics waiting for the right person to come along, I decided to try something a little different…

Introducing Blind Date with a Mug, Blind Date with a Bowl and Pot Luck.

Each piece is handmade by me in Fremantle using Australian clay, wrapped as a mystery and paired with its own personality profile.

No photos of the actual piece.
No spoilers.
No swiping.

Just a handmade ceramic waiting to find its person.

Some are colourful. Some are earthy. Some are quirky. Some are quietly dependable.

The only way to find out is to take a chance and open the bag. Available online and at where I’ll launch the blind date collection!

Honestly, I have absolutely no idea whether this is genius or madness, but it felt far more fun than calling them “seconds”.

Would you take a chance on a Blind Date with a Mug/Bowl/Pot Luck? 🤎

Last year I picked up clay again after a 30 - year famine.

I had no grand plan. Just a feeling that it was time.

Since then I’ve launched Folly & Form, packed my car for markets, set up an online store and sold pieces to complete strangers, made plenty of mistakes, and found a creative community I never expected.

As of today 301 people are now following along, which feels a little surreal for a girl who was just journalling her clay adventures on Instagram last October.

Thanks for being here while I figure it all out, one piece at a time. 🤎🏺
