A new exhibition at J*pingka brings together two artists from Central Australia, painting the Country that shaped them.

Daisy Peterson and Debbie Beasley were both born at Epenarra, a small Central Australian community adjacent to the Davenport Ranges on the Barkly Tablelands. Daisy continues to paint there, while Debbie now lives in Tennant Creek.

Their paintings carry the feeling of homeland, the landscapes of the ancestors, the turning of the seasons, and the bush foods and bush medicine plants that have sustained people there for generations.

Kimberley artist Lorraine Daylight brings her extraordinary work to J*pingka in the new exhibition "Ochre Paintings".

Trained by master ochre painters Jack Britten, Hector Jandany, and her father Gordon Barney, Lorraine doesn't just paint country, she paints with it. Her paintings carry stories from her family's country on Texas Downs Station, Ngarranggarni, the Dreamtime, and Birnoo, on Alice Downs Station, country belonging to Lorraine’s paternal grandmother, where her father Gordon Barney was a stockman. This area is rich in ochre, so trips there can double as ochre collection trips.
