A powerful celebration of Country, culture and survival, Mai tjuta – plenty food tells the story of the traditional foods and water sources that have sustained the Pitjantjatjara people for countless generations. Through vibrant colour and symbolic forms, Tiger Palpatja maps a living landscape around Piltati, where rock holes gather life-giving water and bush foods flourish.

At the heart of the composition are the Perentie (Monitor Lizard), an important source of food and a central figure in ancestral Creation stories. Surrounding motifs represent kampurarpa (bush raisins) and kapi tjukula (rock holes), weaving together the physical abundance of Country with the spiritual journey of the Perentie Man.

Rich in movement, symbolism and cultural knowledge, this work is both a visual celebration of abundance and a profound reminder that every mark carries generations of story, identity and connection to Country. 1
