Arts Sector Consultation Wednesday 25th January at the Huon Valley Hub.
"The Tasmanian Live Performance Exchange (The Exchange) is a new not-for-profit organisation that has received funding from Arts Tasmania for the development and delivery of a bold 10-year plan for Tasmania’s professional theatre and live performance sector.

The Exchange has engaged expert consultants Jade Lillie and Lee Casey to develop the plan with us and they are beginning the process with an industry wide consultation.

We are looking for input from both organisations and individuals involved in the theatre and live performance sector

Your insights will help shape a roadmap that responds to the state’s unique strengths, challenges and opportunities, and supports a sustainable, connected and future-ready sector.

Can't get along?

We welcome everyone from the sector to contribute to this important initiative for the sector.
We would love you to either -

Dear folk music lovers,

We’re Where Water Meets (Yyan & Emily), and our hearts are still full after playing Cygnet Folk Festival this year. Sharing songs from our second album — and then meeting so many of you in the streets, hearing your stories, seeing those teary eyes — was deeply moving. Moments like that remind us why we do this. 💚

We’re now in the final week of our Pozible campaign for Album #2, with $10k still to raise to cover the real costs of making an album — paying our wonderful guest artists, sound engineer, and album artist.

Independent music only exists because of grassroots support. If you’re able to help, you can:
Pre-order the album or grab some merch
Or simply share this post — it truly helps

You can also now support us with a tax-deductible donation (over $2) via our lovely friends at The Bowerbird Collective:
https://bowerbirdcollective.org/support/

If donating this way (they’re a DGR1 charity listed with the ACNC), please email [email protected]
to let them know your donation is intended to support Where Water Meets. You’ll receive a tax receipt, and the funds will be added to our Pozible campaign.

Thank you for walking this road with us — it means more than we can say. 🌊✨
With love,

Another fantastic movie at the Palais this Sunday!

This Sunday at the Franklin Palais Theatre we will be showing "The Penguin Lessons" with doors open at 6pm and the movie getting underway at 6:30pm.

The Penguin Lessons is a captivating and uplifting comedy-drama that tells the true story of Tom Michell, a young English teacher who, in 1976, finds himself adrift in Argentina until a chance encounter with a penguin changes everything. When Tom rescues a bedraggled, oil-covered penguin from a Patagonian beach, naming it Juan Salvador, he embarks on an unexpected journey of friendship that brings joy and meaning to his life. Set against the vibrant yet turbulent backdrop of Argentina’s political unrest, this film blends humour and heart, showing how one small act of kindness can ripple through a community, inspiring students and locals alike with its charm and hope.

This delightful tale invites audiences to witness the magic of an extraordinary bond between man and penguin, filled with moments of laughter, tenderness, and resilience. As Tom navigates the challenges of teaching at a boarding school and caring for his feathered companion, The Penguin Lessons reveals the transformative power of connection, proving that even in the darkest times, love and compassion can light the way. With breathtaking scenery and a story that celebrates the beauty of unlikely friendships, this film is a feel-good experience that will leave you smiling and inspired, perfect for anyone who believes in the healing power of unexpected adventures.

"This heartwarming film adaptation of The Penguin Lessons captures the charm of a teacher's bond with a rescued penguin in 1970s Argentina, blending humour, friendship, and a touch of political unrest for a delightful and moving story."
