Setbacks are temporary.
After 10 days laid up with a particularly awful strain of influenza A, I’m gradually returning to the studio.
In the days before I got sick, I’d been playing with palettes for my entry into Studio One Noosa “Pretty in Pink 2026 – Terra Noosa”, an exhibition and charity auction supporting the incredible work of the McGrath Foundation
Both the flu and these colour explorations revealed growth I hadn’t realised had happened.
I let my hubby look after me without feeling guilty. I cancelled commitments without judging myself. I rested, accepting that my underlying health conditions meant the flu would take its toll.
And looking at this work, I realised how comfortable I’ve become with colour exploration. If you’ve followed me for a while, you’ll know that three years ago I was terrified of colour. It felt too hard!
A forced “setback” gave me time to pause and reflect.
Looking back and recognising our growth is so important. Having goals and plans is valuable — but don’t forget to notice how far you’ve come, my friends 🩵🩵🩵.
