Our year 7 and 8 ACES students recently attended the exciting Plants in Space program at the Western Australian Space Science Education Centre.

In a hands-on laboratory environment, students investigated how plants grow in space-like conditions by exploring the effects of microgravity, water and light.

Working in teams, students experimented with red and blue light to discover how different colours can impact plant growth and sustainability in space.

The experience challenged students to think like future scientists while building teamwork, problem-solving and critical thinking skills. It was an engaging day of science, discovery and future-focused learning. 🌿

A reminder to our school community that students will finish school as normal today and will then enjoy an extended long weekend.

There will be no school for students on Monday (WA Day Public Holiday) or Tuesday (Staff Development Day).

Students will return to school on Wednesday, 3rd June.

We wish all our students, families and staff a safe and enjoyable long weekend!

In recognition of National Reconciliation Week, we are raising funds to support Children's Ground.

Thanks to a generous donation from Mariah Yarran (sister of our very own Ms Yarran-Roper), we have a brand new Walyalup (Fremantle Dockers) cap signed by Shai Bolton and former Docker Stephen Hill up for grabs!

💜Raffle tickets are just $1 each (cash only) and can be purchased from Ms Yarran-Roper in the English office, any day before school and up until the draw!

The lucky winner will be drawn on Thursday, 11th June!

Friday the 15th of May saw the DRSC Upper School Rugby League boys travel to Larkhill Sportsplex to take on Baldivis in the NRLWA High School Cup.

After dealing with peak hour traffic and a few of the other boys running late, we didn’t have the greatest preparation leading into the game. Regardless of this the boys took the field and played a very physical and intense game against the Baldivis boys.

By the end of the game DRSC came out on top 22-14 in a hard-fought game.

Congratulations on the boys getting another win.

This week we take on Rockingham in the final round game of the NRLWA High School on Thursday the 28th of May.

We’re proud to shine a spotlight on local Noongar artist Mariah Yarran, whose artwork proudly features within our college community.

Mariah was commissioned to create a piece representing Darling Range Sports College and the surrounding hills, bushland and wildlife, with the artwork telling a story of connection, journeys and community.

More recently, you would have seen Mariah’s artwork featured on the Fremantle Dockers’ 2026 Indigenous Round guernsey! 💜

It’s wonderful to see her work recognised on such a large stage!

Swipe through to see Mariah’s original DRSC artwork, the story behind the piece, and her recent Dockers collaboration.

Don't forget to head over to
on instagram to check out more of her incredible work!

National Reconciliation Week kicks off tomorrow! Running from 27 May to 3 June.

This week is an opportunity for all Australians to learn more about our shared histories, cultures and achievements, while reflecting on how we can all contribute to reconciliation in our everyday lives.

The dates mark two significant moments in Australia’s history:
• 27 May – the 1967 Referendum
• 3 June – the Mabo Decision recognising Native Title

Throughout the week, our college community will be encouraged to listen, learn, reflect and engage in meaningful conversations around reconciliation.
