Last week was a big one at Darling Range Sports College as we celebrated MegaLife Week!

Throughout the week, students had opportunities to step outside the usual classroom routine and engage in activities focused on wellbeing, connection, creativity and positive choices.

⭐️ Students took part in The DOSE Effect with TJ Power, exploring the science behind dopamine, oxytocin, serotonin and endorphins and practical ways to support motivation, mood and wellbeing.
⭐️ A range of community organisations joined us for our MegaLife stalls, giving students the opportunity to connect with services, information and support available to young people.
⭐️ We celebrated CBCA Book Week with quizzes, lunchtime activities, a song contest and, of course, our Book Week Dress-Up Day! Students and staff brought plenty of creativity to the College, with some fantastic costumes making their way through the Library photo booth.
⭐️ We finished the week together with an extended whole-school lunch on Friday, complete with a sausage sizzle, music, jumbo games and tug of war on the oval.

A huge thank you to the staff, students, presenters and community organisations who contributed to the week and helped bring it all together.

Here are just a few snapshots from a very busy MegaLife Week 2026!

🎨 Young Originals 2026

We’re proud to congratulate three of our talented Year 10 students, whose artworks were selected for the 2026 Young Originals exhibition following a highly competitive entry and judging process!

Gardens Beyond Goodbyes by Odel Ivanova
Pedal Your Way to Adventure by Juliana Ladia
Autumn Ombre by Darika Samreth

Young Originals showcases outstanding artwork by Western Australian public school students, giving young artists the opportunity to have their work exhibited in a professional gallery setting.

Odel, Juliana and Darika had their artworks displayed throughout August at Gallery Central, North Metropolitan TAFE in Perth, alongside selected works from talented young artists across Western Australia.

A fantastic achievement and well-deserved recognition of their creativity, skill and artistic talent. Congratulations to all three students!

In Term 3, our Year 7 HaSS students were challenged to create an Ancient Egyptian artefact connected to a significant historical figure they had studied.

Cooper Bishop took the challenge to truly monumental proportions, creating a sphinx so impressive—and enormous—that it couldn’t fit in the car to make the journey to school!

While we couldn’t display it in person, the effort, creativity and commitment certainly deserve to be celebrated. An amazing achievement worthy of the pharaohs!

Last week, a group of our Year 9 students swapped the classroom for the worksite, taking part in a three-day Try a Trade experience at Skill Hire as part of our Career Taster Program.

Accompanied by our Design & Technology teachers, students rolled up their sleeves and gained hands-on experience in the building and construction industry, working together to construct brick walls and a gazebo structure.

The experience gave students a valuable taste of what a future career in the trades could look like, while developing practical skills, teamwork and confidence along the way.

A fantastic three days, with all students getting involved, having a great time and representing the College with pride. 👏
