Ready for quilting …..

If you get my newsletter, you’ll know I’ve recently ticked off a few legs of the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race.
Over Christmas we sailed from Fremantle to Airlie Beach, heading down below Tasmania.

You imagine the Roaring Forties delivering big following seas… instead we were beating straight into it. 🌊🌊
And just as we reached Tasmania—nothing. We sailed into a wind hole!

A spectacular glassy sunrise… but not exactly what you want when you’re racing!

I had a fantastic couple of days in Harvey with the lovely and very talented ladies at the Harvey District's Creative Arts Centre ✨

We had a fun day playing with different dyeing techniques—sun, ice, jam jar and even microwave!
The next day it was creating mosaic banksias. It was great to see how different they all looked with everyone putting their own spin on it.

They are such a creative, inspiring group—thank you for having me 💛

So lovely to be part of the Stirling Art Exhibition! 🎨

The Stirling Art Exhibition is on now at the Reception Hall, 35 Cedric Street, open daily 10am–4pm until 9 November. It’s such a vibrant show, with an incredible variety of styles and mediums — painting, sculpture, textiles and more. It’s always inspiring to see how differently each artist interprets the world around them.

I’m thrilled that my piece “Windswept Wilderness” has found a new home! 💚 This artwork was inspired by the raw beauty of the Western Australian coast — the wild wind, rugged rocks, and the sense of vast open space that I love capturing in fabric and thread.

If you’re in the area, do pop in for a visit — it’s a wonderful exhibition to wander through and support local artists.

Home from Clipper Leg One! 🌊⛵️

We’re now back on land after our incredible Leg One adventures on the Clipper Race. The build-up to race start in Portsmouth was electric — parades, team photos, cheering crowds and a real buzz of excitement!

The race to Puerto Sherry was brutal — far rougher than expected. Conditions were so tough that the next start was delayed two days for repairs and recovery.

The leg to Punta del Este was a complete contrast — calmer seas, stunning stars, tropical squalls, and unforgettable wildlife. We had dolphins glowing through bioluminescence, flying fish landing on deck, humpbacks and pilot whales nearby, and even birds stopping by for a rest.
The Atlantic Ocean truly put on a show!

The only sewing I did on this trip was sail repairs — all done by hand! 🧵⛵️
We did really well too — second in the first race and winners of the second, plus we scored the most bonus points overall. 🎉

Go GOSH!

Thrilled to share that “Royal Gaze” is runner up in the Embroidery category at the 2025 Australian Quilt Show in Melbourne.

I wasn’t going to enter it after it didn’t win anything in Quiltwest but I am so pleased I did ……it just goes to show that you never can tell what the judges are going to like…..

The show is on at the Royal Exhibition Building until Sunday April 13.
