Cook Street Collective (CSC) is an artist run collaborative gallery, established in 2011 and originally conceived as a space to showcase emerging and mid-career Artists and Makers. The collective is now home to 15 artists and mak

ers who have a permanent space in the gallery. Interest amongst the art world to exhibit with us has grown exponentially since opening, and so wecreated a new gallery space for emerging and non represented artists. We have created an
un-daunting space within the Cook Street Collective which is available for small exhibitions. Our exhibition
committee select suitable artists (or makers) and put together an annual programme of exhibitions.

Capturing candid moments across generations at Portsea and Phillip Island these prints trace the timeless, sensory rituals of the coast - the exhilaration of the surf, salty skin, and quiet contemplation by the water. From young lives looking out toward the horizon to older figures resting on the sand, the subject in these works inhabit the shoreline at various turning points in life.

Robyn Saunders is a local Mornington Peninsula potter who hand throws and decorates her ceramic wares with pit fire techniques such as Raku and Sagar. Robyn surrounds her pots with organic and mineral materials or adds feathers after firing which leaves a delicate carbon mark on the hot pot. Robyn’s ceramics are beautiful pieces that will bring a soothing natural quality in to any home collection.

On now in The Blackroom Gallery Cook Street Collective

Have you had a chance to see Unshore, the current exhibition by Melbourne artist Sophie Zelder?
Working with the distinctive technique of Mokulito (wood lithography), Zelder creates atmospheric, limited-edition prints drawn from photographs taken along the shores of Portsea and Phillip Island. Capturing candid moments of summer, like; people in the surf, resting on the sand, looking towards the horizon. These works initially feel familiar and nostalgic, but reveal a quieter sense of uncertainty and change.
Recently awarded the 2026 Australian Print Workshop James Northfield Lithography Scholarship, Zelder is an artist to watch. Unshore offers a beautiful and considered take on the Australian coast, combining the unpredictability of the printmaking process with reflections on place, time and the fragility of the present.
Now showing at Cook Street Collective. We invite you to come in and spend some time with the exhibition.
Exhibition continues until 26 August only.
