A wonderful night back at drawing the beautiful and inspiring .and.good

Continuing with acrylic paint markers, enjoying the challenge of drawing with bold and colourful linework. Using a bit of white pastel for corrections as I already need to replace my white marker. I might try some oil pastel with the markers too. I think layering could work well!

Inspiring night with at , surrounded by the artworks of ‘Flesh’ and drawing the gorgeous and

Directed by , we began the evening with blind contour drawing, continuous line work, and duo-drawing - fun and effective warm-up exercises (my continuous line drawing included - I wouldn’t normally draw with such a strong line but I love the energy)

I used pencil and acrylic paint markers (instead of charcoal and pastel) to mix things up and hopefully push my work a bit further. I find that experimenting with different mediums helps me switch off some of the overthinking, and a sense of play can deepen my connection to drawing.

After the session, I created an extra sketch of Imanol using the markers. I still have a long way to go in learning how to use them properly, but I enjoyed them much more than I expected!

Always learning, always experimenting. Grateful for the people and the spaces that encourage play and creative growth.

Gold (“Good”) and dark green (“Evil”) Ruby, my small bronze sculptures are currently showing in an amazing group exhibition - Flesh - at

Ruby herself is a phenomenal model and muse - an inspiration in every way, and a genuine light in my life. I hoped this little sculpture could carry even a fraction of her presence.

Ruby nicknamed these pieces, and they actually capture the duality I was trying to express: strength and softness, power and sensitivity, light and shadow, vulnerability and sensuality. Contrasts and complexities within us all.

Which one’s your favourite?

Stretch 2 (2006) is included in the group exhibition Flesh at

It’s only the second time I’ve exhibited this work. It’s a monotype ghost, 30x30cm, capturing the subtle details of sculptural musculation without any additional work or materials - pure monotype.

Stretch 2 comes from a period before I began drawing dancers (2007), a moment in my practice where I was searching for more than simply representing the n**e. I wanted to evoke emotion, movement, energy, a feeling - using the body for expression. My models contorted themselves in twists and turns, pushing themselves for me to photograph, which I then turned into monotypes.

Looking back, I realize what I was searching for is exactly what dancers do: communicate with their body. Twenty years on, the artwork feels like a quiet conversation across time, between what I was seeking and what I’ve come to understand.

Stretch 2 can be seen with many other explorations of the body in SOL Gallery’s Flesh.

Another great drawing session inside the beautiful - this time at night!

I’m a Melbourne girl and have always loved our beautiful old buildings. These events are amazing opportunities to spend quality time relaxing and sketching. The decorations and details are so inspiring.

Experimenting with drawing on black paper. After enjoying working on dark coloured pastel paper I wanted to try white on black to see if I could create images with drama and exaggerated movement.
’s beautiful poses were challenging, as was drawing on black! But I enjoyed it and have learnt a lot. Looking forward to trying this technique in a longer pose session at
