Great to get to opening of Patrick Pound’s exhibition Parade at the always exciting Station gallery in South Yarra. Patrick will play with your brain and then document the whole process in weird and wonderful ways. Or as he says in the room notes, “To collect is to gather your thoughts through things.” When I interviewed him once for the much missed Photofile magazine, he said “Photography always used to be about the click of the shutter. For me it is now about the click of the mouse as I buy another image on EBay.” One of my favourites in the show was of TV personality David Frost with Groucho Marx. On a personal note it was wonderful to see a shot of actor David McCallum who played Ilya Kuryakin in the classic TV series The Man from U.N.C.L.E. McCallum went to the same school as me in Glasgow (Hillhead High) but 20 years earlier. I seem to remember his father was first violinist in the Scottish National Orchestra. It could be the start of a new Pound series on “parents of famous actors!” 🌋🦜🌴
