The Yellow Fig

The Yellow Fig Art and Design by Lana Marshall My art creations are broad and unique, and my recent workings with alcohol ink have a vibrancy and colour like no other.

The Yellow fig was born through my creative passion, once being something that I only shared with my family and close friends but now being accessible to the public. The unpredictable medium inspires me to explore. Other homemade products I create are environmentally friendly and the hope is to make only positive outcomes for the consumer. These include - candles, heat/cold packs, coiled baskets,

Pjs and pottery (soon to be added providing all goes to plan). All of my work is showcased in my shared boutique with Brodeine and Deine, nestled in the Museum Village of Esperance. Happy to do commissions :)

💛

Over the next month or so, my time in the Fig will come to an end.
But my time creating will not.

I’ll continue to share the latest pieces I’m working on here through posts and stories. Work will be available via DMs and through various places, which I’ll share as they come together. I’ll also continue to take on commissions — this will be ongoing.

If you hold a voucher, please know there is no expiry date. And while I may no longer have my little space in the Museum Village in Esperance, I’ll actually have more time to create, evolve, and share what I’m making.

You’ll still see me around — but today is really about saying thank you.

Thank you to everyone who has supported me over the past five years in the Fig. To all who wandered into my shop, stayed for a chat, shared stories, taught me things, and allowed me to pass on a little knowledge in return — you’ve been a huge highlight of my time in the village.

Thank you to Amanda (ESP) for her wisdom around running a business, and to the staff at Bistro Louis for being the first smiles I see when I step into the village. Thank you to all the shops — you’re a big part of why it’s been so hard to leave.

And most importantly, thank you to my creative directors (my family) — for being honest when needed, and for always nurturing the spark that keeps me creating.

Thanks a million to all my followers — and keep watching. 💛

— Feeling Before Thought

I didn’t plan this colour palette — it just happened.
This one reminds me of the drive of mine to Esperance.

“Raw and Reflective”

Acrylic on Linen Canvas, 100 x 100 cm
This is the headland at West Beach, Esperance – a place that always makes you look twice. On a moody grey day, the lines and layers in the rock seem to come alive – weathered, grounded, and quietly spectacular.

I painted it to reflect that rugged beauty and stillness – how the stone holds the stories of wind, weather, and time.

Raw, reflective, and full of presence – just like the place itself.

Day 23

I had to pause my 30-day challenge due to the time of year, but I just had to squeeze this one in.

This is of my dear friend’s haven on the farm. She and her husband are moving on to a new chapter, one with an equally beautiful view and an even bigger swimming pool.

They take with them the memories they’ve made here. My friend, like so many women in rural communities, has worked tirelessly over the years. This home and garden are the result of her dedication, tackling challenges most would avoid—often on her own. From massive projects that spanned months or years to mastering new skills, she’s transformed this place with determination and grace.

Her ability to juggle it all—family, community commitments, and countless projects—is nothing short of inspiring. And now, she embraces the future with the same positivity, unburdened by material ties.

It’s not goodbye, but a heartfelt well done. I have no doubt she’ll bring her magic to the next spot. 😍😍
