On this International Women's Day, ECC were honoured to join HERSTORY: Notable Women of St Kilda guided walk, and celebrate these women with relevant songs from their era. Our first locale for singing was Alfred Square and included the Can Can Polka (see clip) as a homage to Mirka Mora. Our 2nd stop was at ChristChurch under a big tree & included honouring the extraordinary Vida Goldstein with 'I didn't raise my boy to be a soldier' and 'Don't be too Polite Girls'. All as relevant now as ever!!!

Elwood Community Choir gave a wonderful performance today at the St Kilda Festival of 10 songs that celebrate the delights of the St Kilda Botanic Gardens. They include songs about the activities undertaken in the gardens, the roses, the playground, the trees, Tilman Gloystein who designed the gardens, the conservatory, the rain man fountain and a celebration of Port Phillip's sister city friendship with Obu in Japan.

A Happy 1st Birthday celebration of the Elwood Singing Walking Trail was enjoyed by the Elwood Community Choir at Point Ormond. We were joined by family and friends of the late Andrew Herington, honouring Andrew by contributing towards a new song and our fundraising campaign for the ongoing promotion and maintenance of the Trail. The very talented Mal Webb & Kylie Morrigan performed the new song composed for the Trail, The Southern Fiddler Ray. It was somewhat windy but nevertheless enjoyed by performers and guests!

The Choir recently had a marvellous weekend in the recording studio, recording all the songs that will be a vital part of the Elwood Singing Walking Trail. This fabulous trail will take you around 12 landmark locations of Elwood, and a sign at the spot, will link you to the upcoming trail website and the song for the site.
