📢A NEW CHAPTER BEGINS FOR GIIYONG

From 2026, Giiyong Festival will move to a biennial format, returning in 2027. In the alternate years, Twofold Aboriginal Corporation will present GIIYONG GANYA — a brand-new Aboriginal-led cultural gathering that will take place for the first time on Saturday 28 November 2026 at Jigamy on Thaua Country.

Importantly, Giiyong Ganya is not a festival.

It is a smaller, more intimate cultural event designed to bring people together through storytelling, music, workshops, cultural experiences and connection to Country. Inspired by the long-standing tradition of gathering around the fire, Giiyong Ganya creates space to listen, learn, reflect and connect.

Held at Jigamy, between Pambula and Eden, the event will welcome Aboriginal community members and the broader public to share in culture, knowledge and creativity in a respectful and meaningful way.

✨ A new event
🔥 Inspired by gathering around the fire
🎵 Live performances and storytelling
🎨 Workshops and cultural activities
🖤 Connection through culture and Country

As part of the lead-up, Twofold Aboriginal Corporation will also deliver cultural and creative development opportunities for local Aboriginal artists, creatives and cultural leaders, with support from organistions like Grow the Music and Aboriginal Regional Arts Alliance.

‘Ganya’ means camp, or home, in the language spoken by south coast Elders. With ‘Giiyong’ meaning welcome, the phrase can be interpreted as welcome home, or welcome to camp and we look forward to welcoming you to this new event.

More information, workshop details and the performance program will be announced soon at https://www.giiyong.com.au/

❤️🖤💛 Our very own deadly sista ALKIRA named FINALIST in the 2026 NSW TOP TOUR GUIDE AWARDS ❤️🖤💛

Today we are incredibly proud to share that Alkira Aldridge has been named a Finalist in the 2026 NSW Top Tour Guide Awards.

Since joining Eden LALC in 2022, Alkira has grown into an exceptional leader within our organisation and recently stepped into her new role as Tourism Coordinator / Senior Ranger. As our longest-serving staff member, we have had the privilege of watching her confidence, leadership and cultural knowledge continue to grow.

Alkira is committed to her community, her culture and her Country. Whether she is sharing stories on the Bilbaan Cultural Experience, mentoring other staff members, caring for Country, supporting cultural programs or representing our community through tourism, she does so with pride, humility and generosity.

Everything we do at Eden LALC is about creating opportunities for our people while strengthening culture, connection and community, and Alkira embodies these values every day.

To see one of our own recognised at a state level is incredibly special, and we are honoured to walk alongside her on this journey.

Congratulations Alkira. Your entire community is proud of you.

❤️🖤💛
