Flexibility. Musicality. Youth. Body Type. Perfection. 5 things you might think you need to start dance classes - but you don't!
🧑🩰Flexibility and Musicality are learnt through years of practice. Some people do naturally have these, but most don't. What matters more is dedication and technique, and willingness to practice all the time.
👶Dancing is for everyone, not just children. While scheduling around work, family and other commitments can be tricky, don't let your age stop you from trying. Sometimes it's easier to learn when you have life experience and understand that you need to commit to improving.
💃Body image is a tough topic to address. But regardless of size or even disability, you can dance! Professional dancers are athletes, who do almost nothing else but dance. This is what we see in the media, but it doesn't mean that it should stop anyone from dancing their heart out when their favourite song comes on.
👉You do not need to be perfect, no dancer is. We miss music cues, fudge a step, get out of time, don't hit the correct beat All. The.Time. What dance class gives you are the tools to persevere, endurance to try again and again, and knowledge of what to do when it goes wrong. (The answer is just keep going😄).
