Nail? Command hook? Or no drilling at all? 🖼️

We get asked constantly which way is best to hang a picture frame, so we put it all in one guide. Stud hanging, drywall anchors, command hooks, and our favourite for galleries and rearrangers: the gallery hanging system (see it in action in the video below, used everywhere from living rooms to classrooms).

😱 Ever pulled a framed print off the wall and found a WAVE rippling across it?

You're not imagining it, and in most cases, your artwork isn't ruined - it's just been mounted the wrong way.

Paper naturally expands and contracts with humidity. If it's taped down tight on all four sides (like in many ready-made frames), it has nowhere to go, so it buckles.

New work, new frames, one very exciting show coming up.

Our Mittagong team recently framed two striking new canvases by artist Miranda Hampson - "Labyrinthine" and "Obscuration" - ahead of her show at Michael Reid Northern Beaches gallery.

For work this detailed, the frame has one job: get out of the way. We used a raw Australian Oak float frame for both pieces, which lets the canvas float free of the frame's edge and keeps the focus exactly where it belongs… on Miranda's incredible, meditative linework.

If you're around the Northern Beaches, keep an eye out for the show. These two will be well worth seeing in person.
