FREE VIEWING OF THE FIERY FINALE

The days are getting which means one thing, the iconic Lismore Lantern Parade is just around the corner.

After viewing the magical lanterns wind their way through the streets of Lismore on Saturday 20 June, make sure you are at Oakes Oval by 6.30pm for the not-to-be-missed Fiery Finale.

FREE entry is free via the Magellan Street gate. Bring blankets and cushions to relax on the grass. No standing please let the little ones see!

And no chairs are permitted on the oval thank you.

WRISTBAND EXCHANGE

In the week beginning Saturday 13th June, you can exchange your ticket for a wristband for quick and easy entry to the Fiery Finale. A list of participating businesses will be announced soon.

Please note: the finale includes gentle pyrotechnics and lots of fire.

WEARABLE ART AND LANTERN DECORATING WORKSHOP

When: Saturday, 6 June, 10am - 2pm
Where: Lismore Regional Gallery

Artists, students and all creatives are invited to a Wearable Art and Lantern Decorating workshop at the Lismore Regional Gallery this Saturday.

LightnUp, the crew behind the Lismore Lantern Parade, will provide lots of fun ‘trash and treasures’, and fairy lights to complete your wearable artwork and decorate lanterns for the parade. There will be lots of hot glue and stuff!!

Suitable for adults or young people over 16 years, this workshop is sure to be a lot of fun!

WEARABLE ART GALA NOT TO BE MISSED

From the organisers of the Lismore Lantern Parade comes the not-to-be-missed Wearable Art Gala Awards.

This is much more than a runway fashion show, it’s a celebration of imagination, sustainability and community.

Featuring illuminated, one of a kind wearable artworks in a runway style performance, with Dr Fred Cole on the baby grand.

The Student Awards take to the runway at 5pm, with the Wearable Arts Awards Gala starting at 8.30pm. Doors open at 8pm, so you will have plenty of time to enjoy cocktails and canapes on arrival in the Arcade.

The entries will be judged by a panel consisting of Linda Tova of North-East Waste, chief executive of NSW Museums and Galleries Brett Addlington, presenter of Richmond Valley Radio’s the Long Lunch Nora Vidler-Blanksby, local artist and designer Ellen Cronan and, zooming in from Italy the chief designer at Paul Meccanico and accomplished painter, Paul Albert Dari, who seamlessly bridges the worlds of visual art and fashion.

WHAT MEMORIES ARE MADE OF

Last week we were delighted to have students from Lismore Heights Public School visit our lantern-making workshop as a part of their “Community Service” activities.

And lots of maths, geography, history, craft, sharing, laughter and hand-ball was had.

Thank you Principal Mr Scotton for your kindness and support.
A number of these youngsters are also creating some amazing costumes for the Wearable Arts Awards to be held on 18 June at the Star Court Theatre.

Our Festival Director Jyllie also visited Wyrallah Public School to do some planning and design for the students’ Wearable Art works. Fairies and dragons seemed to feature strongly.

Thank you Ms Fahy for your encouragement of these young creatives.

Did you check your email?
All applicants who registered before the May 18th deadline were sent a crucial confirmation email on May 20th.

This email contains everything you need for your final submission, including:
-Your official Entry ID number
-The link for Step 2 (Garment Registration)
-Event schedules, rules, and important guidelines

Please check your inbox immediately! If you can't find it, please make sure to check your Junk, Spam, and Trash folders, as it might be sitting there unread.

If you accidentally deleted it, or if you are worried that you made a typo in your email address during registration, please contact our office right away so we can look it up for you.

The final deadline for Step 2 (Garment Registration) is coming up fast on Tuesday, June 2nd.

Please ensure everything is submitted on time. Best of luck with your final preparations, and we can't wait to see your amazing creations!
