We travelled further south from home to revisit the towns of Kiama and Gerringong.

These places are beautiful places to visit, they have that community feel still alive and present.

Standouts in Kiama would be the historic buildings around the town and the fabulous cafe's and restaurants. Depending in your budget, there is high end eating and your trusted fish and chips along the main strip. Of course, the harbour is just gorgeous!

On days where the swell is big, head to the Kiama Blowhole for a show of random spurts of water.

Market day was on today (Saturday), this is along the esplanade and had various stalls selling doggie treats of all kinds, home made jams and spreads, face masks, deli sausages, jewelry, clothing, etc.

The old fire station held a smaller hand made pop up - selling goods like jewelry, cards, artwork and hand-made journals.

Standouts in Gerringong would have to be the views down to the beach from the village high street. There are a number of places to eat and shop if that's your thing. It's also a great place to whale watch during migration season. The viewing platform isn't huge but is great for spotting whales with some information plaques to give you some info on whale migration...don't forget to bring some binoculars.

Another standout is the bakery on the high street, not only is the bread delicious and fresh, the sweets/cakes/tarts/pastries are simply divine! We managed to get there before it closed for the day and picked up a pear frangipane tart, lemon tart, chocolate eclair, apple turnover and a crusty seeded sour dough.

One thing that struck a nerve today while visiting Gerringong was all the yellow ribbons and references to the colour around the high street.

There have been 5 people who have taken their own lives in a matter of weeks in the small communities of Gerringong, Kiama and Jamberoo. This has impacted the close knit communities and the yellow ribbons, ties and pompoms is to show the families affected by the loss of their loved ones support from the community.

This also shows us, that it's even more important to touch base with friends and family and ask, "are you okay?" With Covid changing the way we live, it is more important than ever to reach out. Your voice and words could be what helps someone struggling with their mental health or just in need of a shoulder.

On that note, stay safe, keep living and lets all support one another. I'm always strapped for time, though I would drop everything to help out a loved one in need.

Don't be afraid to ask for some company or help if you need it.

As we head up the coast, we are trying to see as many of The Big Things in Australia. We're lucky we have most of the well known ones on the East Coast.

1. The Big Banana (Coffs Harbour)
2. The Big Prawn (Ballina)
3. The Big Knight ( lesser known - Knockrowe)

Next on route....The Big Pineapple!

We have made it to Port Macquarie from Myall Lake camp ground. This place is a lot more civilised as the town is walking distance. It's a beautiful campsite, where the Hastings River meets the sea.

We are camped near the Breakwall, where there are painted rocks. Painted by locals, travellers and as far as I know anyone who can find an unpainted rock.

We have 3 nights, lastnight being the first night. Slept the best I've slept in the last 2 days....there's some fine tuning to amateur campers.

Out exploring today.

Follow us along the way as we road trip up from Sydney to Queensland along the coast. Then back down to Sydney through regional areas.

We'll be camping for most of it! We'll be sleeping under the stars soon. β›ΊπŸŒ πŸŒ•

Currently enjoying Milan in Italy for a 3 day last minute suprise visit.

I have visited other cities in Italy on previous travels and wanted to see The Last Supper by Leonardo.

I am amazed at how much more there is to see and experience here. Milan doesn't have a "you got to see Milan" kind of reputation that perhaps Florence, Rome or Venice might have.

Now that I'm here, I can see that there is more to see and experience that I thought.

It's a city where history, food, design and innovation all hold hands, and nicely at that.

Milan Blog Post: coming soon

Yesterday we were heading to a Bodega for some tastings and purchases.
We had rough directions and were on the lookout for double garage doors.....there was no signage.
After thinking we missed it, we drove into a side street to turn around when there was the Bodega!
When you think you've made a mistake and it turns out right........that feels so good!!

This was a small and private Bodega, you can bring your own bottles to be filled or they can supply some plastic bottles (empty bottles of water) on site....it's rustic, it's cheap and I can recommend:
- The Port (Oport)
- The Red Wine (Vino tinto)
- The Orange Liquer (Cointreau)

Ben bought some whiskey which we have not tried yet.

We found ourselves heading South along the coast from Mar de Pulpi yesterday. After lunch in Garrucha, we drove towards MojΓ‘car; a small town with whitewashed houses located on a mountain.
A beautiful view from the top.....it is an uphill walk! Worth it!
