Experience Arterial by Na Djinang Circus, an award-winning contemporary circus work that weaves together people, Country and culture through dynamic acrobatics and powerful First Nations narratives.

Performed by four First Nations artists, Arterial explores the ancient connections that bind First Nations people through bloodlines, spirit and community. Through extraordinary physicality and moving artistry, the performers reveal the unseen bonds between body and land, celebrating what it means to be First Peoples—the lifeblood of this country, with the land as its beating heart.

Applications are now open for the First Nations Artist Camp 2026

We Are Proud to Announce Our 2026 Lead Artist, Delvene Cockatoo-Collins, a celebrated Quandamooka woman, artist and creative storyteller whose practice weaves together textiles, printmaking, natural fibres and fashion.

Deeply connected to Country and the rich cultural traditions of the Quandamooka people, Delvene’s work is a powerful expression of identity, storytelling and living culture. Through her art, she honours and shares the stories, knowledge and creative practices passed down through generations, carrying forward the teachings of her mother, Evelyn, and grandmother, Bethel. Her work reflects an enduring connection to Country, culture and community, creating spaces where tradition and contemporary expression come together.

🏛️ Cr Peter Mitchell congratulates QUAMPI on Queensland architecture award

Cr Peter Mitchell:

"Today, we'd like to recognise the QUAMPI Arts and Cultural Centre for winning a prestigious Queensland architecture award.

It is an outstanding achievement for the cultural centre at Goompi, Minjerribah, to receive the Public Architecture Award at the Australian Institute of Architects 2026 Queensland Architecture Awards.

This prestigious recognition highlights the centre's architectural excellence, cultural significance and Indigenous-led vision.

The award is, first and foremost, a recognition of the Quandamooka people, whose culture, connection to Country and enduring heritage are reflected throughout the centre and its architecture.

QUAMPI Director Avril Quail described the centre as a place where Quandamooka culture is lived, shared and celebrated, and noted that the award honours the Elders, artists and community members who helped bring the vision to life.

QYAC Chair Cameron Costello said the recognition reinforces the importance of Indigenous-led design within Australia's architectural landscape.

As the divisional councillor representing Minjerribah, I know how proud those involved in this community will be, and should be.

QUAMPI has become far more than a building. It is a cultural gathering place, a centre for artistic excellence and an important gateway for visitors to learn about and experience Quandamooka culture.

The centre also holds significant promise for our regional economy, supporting arts, culture and tourism while strengthening Minjerribah's reputation as a destination of national significance.

Through its programs, exhibitions and cultural experiences, QUAMPI creates opportunities for artists, cultural practitioners and local businesses while enriching the visitor experience.

Looking towards the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games, and the decade beyond, QUAMPI is exceptionally well placed to gain international recognition.

Its unique architectural qualities, strong connection to place and authentic cultural expression provide an opportunity to showcase Quandamooka culture to the world and establish Minjerribah as one of Australia's most distinctive cultural destinations.

This award is not only recognition of outstanding architecture, but also a signal of the remarkable future ahead for this important cultural institution.
