WIP Playing around with my oils in the sun. Normally I paint slowly with oils, but with this piece I was trying to paint quickly, just to see what happened. I still need more depth in the foreground and the land on the right, but I am happy with where it is going.

First day back in my studio after a long break over Christmas! Did anyone else find it hard to get back into it this year?... it might just be me!

I had fun playing around with charcoal, graphite and pastels with these three little sketches. One of my kids came in and drew with me which was lots of fun and nice to have some one-on-one time together 😍

I'm quite keen to keep on going with more of these sketches to see if something emerges for a bigger painting... hopefully I'll find a bit more time as we still have nearly 2 more weeks of school holidays left 😍😆

I'm back playing around with this one today. It's coming along .. but I'm still not loving the trees or foreground and still have a bit to do. I think the water area is too big . Or is it on the wrong angle? Who knows.

I am fiddling with it too much and I tend to "overpaint" ... my new goal is simplicity for my next piece lol

Finished. Love the gold leaf and love these 5 women who showed up for me in this painting. I am really enjoying this style.

I'm calling this one sun tribe as they all seem to be happily looking into the beautiful and warm sun together.

It is 50cm x 50cm on stretched canvas in acrylic.

I've been working on another project lately and finally made it into my studio today to paint. Yippee!

I've created a gold sheen over the women and added in some more fluoro colours but I think I might bite the bullet and add in some gold leaf. 😍

50cm x 50cm stretched canvas.
Acrylic and mixed media.
"Sun Woman"

This one is also for sale and is part of my Tribe series. Dm me if you want more details.

Base layer for my next tribe! I'm loving thr mild fluoro colours coming through from the inks.

I'm not sure about how other mums do it but I sure didn't get mulch painting done during school holidays! I start them with plans and good intentions and just always seem to get swept up in play dates, lunches, activities and hanging out with my kids! I love it but I am also pretty grateful to have time during the term to get some work done and paint most days!

Can't wait to see where this one goes!

Here's a sneak peak of a little coastal piece I am working on. It's nearly there but needs a few tweaks. I do love the slight realism going on but I honestly feel Abstract is where my heart is. Time will tell!

Still need to work on the waves and the highlights and then she should be ready to pop up on bluethumb. DM me if you are interested.

Working on the first layer of oils. It's all very dark, grey and boring but it is the base. Tomorrow I'll add colour and detail. This one is also on a board which is new for me. I'm still not sure if I like it, however it is good to learn new things and a change is always a great challenge!

Loving using oils again. My new windsor and newton's are fabulous but a lot stickier than my AS. Anyone else out there find the same?

Playing around with Values this morning. Trying to get a piece down to 5 or 6 values and 5 or 6 shapes is a lot harder than it sounds.

This is a little study in acrylic, but tomorrow I will do a larger piece in oils.

My focus is on composition, values and shapes. As the saying goes ... you can't paint your way out of a bad composition .... trust me ... I've tried! Lol

I'm quite looking forward to using colour and oils tomorrow... and seeing it come to life.
