WHAT IS KINTSUGU?

Have you heard of the Japanese art of Kintsugi?

Kintsugi translates to ‘golden joinery’ and is the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery by highlighting cracks with lacquer mixed with powdered gold, silver, or platinum.

It can be traced back as far as the 15th century and embodies the philosophy of wabi-sabi - honouring the beauty of imperfection, fragility, and the history of an object.

Want to try your hand at this unique and ancient art form? WPCC is running a special Handmade workshop where you can experience the philosophy of embracing the beauty of imperfection through a hands-on modern Kintsugi workshop.
