very sad message from Julie and Peter Haddrick.I know you all enjoyed the time with Spencer the dog last week
From Julie
Today we buried our darling dog Spencer. Unexpected, traumatic and so so sad. We had been to Dorrigo and were travelling home. He showed no symptoms except not hungry. Spencers legs went wobbly at 5.30 pm and we rushed him to the local vet who immediately sent us to an emergency vet hospital in Penrith. Spencer walked in on his lead but when examined, his vital signs were shutting down. Xrayed, intubated and put on oxygen, Pete was told that he was dying and no sense prolonging his life as his now inability to breathe on his own was irreversible. So Claira, Moe and Pete did the kindest thing and he was put to sleep. A paralysis tick had lodged in Spencer’s fur around his neck and it was killing the dog over a 36 hour period. It was so fast and devastating and awful for our darling fit and healthy Spencer. His “sister “Greta the Westie and he were great mates for 10 years. To lose a beautiful family dog was just so sad and he leaves a giant hole in our hearts.
