Some fresh blocks and a small jumble of fabrics - work started on a commissioned quilt. It's a log cabin, using Japanese fabrics, with asymmetric blocks of varying sizes. Log cabin is one of my favourite patterns - you can make it perfectly even or not, a few colours or as many as you can find, quilt as you go or not. Interestingly though, I've found there is always a layer of cohesion through all these quilts I've made, even the scrappier ones, whether they're planned or random.

Happy Tuesday everyone, still my favourite day of the week. The week is still full of possibility and exhausted disillusion hasn't set in yet!
Spent last week in Sydney where I had a great evening with my girls at the Mumford and Sons concert. Even getting totally drenched by an unexpectedly heavy fall of rain as we walked back to the train station didn't spoil the fun!
Now it's back to the sewing machine and finishing a quilt top. Enjoy your week!

Good morning and a lovely morning here! A few weeks ago I posted this quilt which my son and I made for some family friends' little one. This other little quilt was made from leftover pieces and I think it's quite sweet.

Some little things (they make great background fabrics), a few not quite so little things, some cute little animals and some very cute rabbits! A peaceful start to Saturday... a lovely weekend to you all.

Sunday serendipity! These fabrics were all bought at the same time but not picked to belong together. Several were chosen specifically to finish various projects, others almost at random by both me and my daughter. Now, I'm rethinking ideas with some that work so well together - recalibrating with fabric is fun!!

A quilt designed and fabric cut by my son and made for family friends' little one. It was a lot of fun to put together (and his cutting is better than mine!).

Couldn't help laughing at the start of this but I loved the finished cover. Have you ever snuck an old piece of clothing for a quilt?

Good afternoon all, I have a project that I really want to share but it is a special commission so that will have to wait. Instead, here is today's book, just finished - A House With Good Bones by T. Kingfisher. I enjoyed it but I preferred Nettle and Bone. That was amazing, loved it! A Sorceress Comes to Call is my next read by Kingfisher (isn't that a great surname!) but I'll probably mix it up with a different book in between.

Hello everyone, I hope you've had a lovely time over the Christmas season and we can look forward with some optimism to 2026 after such an unsettled year with such sorrow in 2025.
This is a batch of tablerunners that made their way to the awesome Gawura Gallery in Glen Innes before Christmas - aren't they pretty! We are happy to customise and make these for you.
Happy January sewing, my friends.
