Devonport Regional Gallery invites artists to submit entries for tidal.26, a biennial acquisitive award and exhibition exploring the natural, cultural, personal and political concerns related to the sea and coastal regions.

While you're at the Expo of Everything today, make sure you pop next door to the Devonport Regional Gallery!

We're free and open to the public until 2pm and currently have three exhibitions on display:

EXTRACTS by Keryn Fountain
"Drawing language from landscape" and works developed from "spontaneously collected rocks and objects found while walking and working in the garden and bushland around my home."

Surfacing – nowhereprint
A group exhibition featuring 14 contemporary Tasmanian printmakers. The exhibition "draws a parallel between the shifting surface of the landscape and the printmaking matrix" and showcases a broad range of printmaking techniques.

All in.
An open community exhibition celebrating the creative work of people from across the North West Coast, showcasing creativity, self-expression and belonging through a diverse range of artworks by residents of all ages and abilities.

We began this terms Create & Make with working on a design inspired by the upcoming Paper on Skin™ Exhibition. Our young artists joined by family members drew up their individual designs and we have brought these together to create a work that we will develop together over the next few weeks. They have also begun working on designs that will be used to create the paper/fabric that will add colour and texture to their wearable art piece.

Applications Open: tidal.27 festival Artist in Residence

Following the success of our inaugural Artist in Residence program with Cheryl Rose, we're excited to announce that applications are now open for the tidal.27 festival Artist in Residence (AIR) Program.
This unique opportunity invites Tasmanian visual artists to spend two weeks developing their practice in Devonport while engaging with our community as part of the tidal.27 festival. Artists will have access to studio and exhibition spaces within Devonport Regional Gallery, receive a residency fee, and share their creative process through open studio sessions and public programming.

The tidal.27 festival explores the theme "The Rivers and Waterways Are Talking", bringing artists, community and visitors together through contemporary art, storytelling, workshops and shared experiences inspired by our coastline and waterways.

If you're a Tasmanian artist interested in community engagement, experimentation and creating work in a vibrant festival environment, we'd love to hear from you.

🌻 We're starting our Sunflower journey! 🌻

The paranaple arts centre is proud to begin its journey as a Hidden Disabilities Sunflower venue, helping to create a more inclusive and supportive experience for all visitors.

The Hidden Disabilities Sunflower is a recognised symbol that allows people living with non-visible disabilities to discreetly indicate that they may need additional support, understanding, or a little extra time during their visit.

Our team has undertaken training and is learning more about how we can better support visitors with hidden disabilities, ensuring everyone feels welcomed, respected and able to enjoy our spaces with confidence.

This is just the beginning, with the Bass Strait Maritime Museum and paranaple Convention Centre also set to commence their Sunflower journey soon.

Together, we're working towards creating more accessible and inclusive experiences across our venues.
