Denmark River Arts Markets The Markets are back! Hip hip hooray!!!! The well-loved markets by the river in Berridge Park were first started in 1982 and run for 40 years until 2022.

After a three year slumber, and in response to community calling for their return, they are back!

LOVE THE DENMARK RIVER ARTS MARKETS?

Our iconic Markets need your voice!

Our December Market is still uncertain. We’re doing everything we can to make it happen, and we will go ahead with Easter—but we haven’t yet secured sustainable funding for both.

The Shire has allocated:�
• $30,000 to its separate Christmas event�
• $5,000 to the Easter Market
�• Nothing to the December Market

We asked for $10,000 of the Christmas allocation to go towards the Markets. That would leave $20,000 for the Shire’s Christmas celebration and give us $15,000 across both Markets. The request was declined.

For more than 40 years, these iconic Markets have given local creatives & makers a place to sell their work, musicians & performers a stage and visitors a reason to come to Denmark and support our local businesses. They’re where we meet, catch up and feel part of this town.

We haven’t given up—and we hope you’ll stand with us.

✉️ Please email [email protected] and ask the Shire to reconsider. Tell them why the Markets matter to you, and cc [email protected]. Add your personal story about the markets, but we also have a draft email prepared for you for ease & convenience. (see our website)

✍️ Sign a campaign postcard at the CRC or participating outlets around town.

The Easter Markets....What a day 💛

"As a Denmark local, I visited the markets today and wanted to let you know I thought they were the best markets I've been to in a long time. No issue as all with the entry fee (especially given the reduction in funding); lots of local and hand crafted goods for sale. Was there early and it was a great vibe.
Well done, and I look forward to many more awesome markets."

Sweet Water is a fluid musical project shaped by a deep thirst for connection — to land, to life and to love. Fresh from inspired performances at Nannup Music Festival, their sound moves like a living current — at times gentle and shimmering, at others powerful, untamed and rising.

Rooted in heartland roots and earthy rhythms, Sweet Water flows through the organic songwriting of Adam Grok, with rhythmic guitar lines and soothing vocals carried like ripples across a wide-open landscape. Beneath it all, driving drum pulses and droning basslines echo the heartbeat of the earth, while some of the Great Southern’s most passionate instrumentalists weave soaring, expressive lines through the tide.

Keep an ear out this Saturday for The Secondhand Band bringing their lively brass sounds to the Denmark River Arts Markets!

This eclectic roving quartet will be weaving through the Markets with New Orleans jazz and other tantalising tunes, featuring tuba, trombone, percussion and more. Expect big sound, great energy and plenty of toe-tapping moments as you explore the stalls.
