CROWS NEST VISIT
Crows Nest Table Tennis Club visited Ipswich on Saturday for the first time. Crows Nest arrived in strength bringing a bus load of players and supporters.
Ipswich managed to win the day 3 rubbers to 1 but it was the camaraderie and sporting approach from both clubs which won the day.
Ipswich intends making this an annual event and are already planning their return visit next year.

VALIANT ROOKIES GO DOWN IN THRILLER
A valiant Rookies team were narrowly defeated last night by the highly rated Smashers in a final that went down to the wire.
The Rookies were short two of their regular players and had to rely on Marcus and Lazlo to assist on the night.
The matches sea sawed throughout the evening with the scores tied at 5-5 going into the final match of the evening. The Rookies, led by the evergreen Manish, managed to dominate the final doubles match and secure a well deserved winter premiership.
Congratulations to all players on their sportsmanship and collegiality for another great season.

SEMI-FINAL ACTION
The A.Grade semi-finals were decided last night with the Rookies and the Smashers both progressing to next week’s final.
Number 1 team,the Smashers, led by club number 1 rated player Manish, proved too good for the valiant Bruisers who snuck into the finals with three huge wins in the last three rounds.
The Smashers got off to a great start winning the first four games. The Bruisers showed great determination to fight back but were comfortably beaten 7-4 in the end.
The second semifinal was a closer affair between the Rookies and the Vikings. The Vikings were clear favourites and match sea sawed throughout the evening.
Nev proved the difference winning three of his matches to give the Rookies a distinct advantage winning 6-4 on the night.
Next week’s final will be a torrid affair with both teams in great form.

Round 1 highlights for the start of a new season in B.Grade.

LEGENDS DEFEAT DRAGONS
Hot favourites, the Legends, took out the B. Grade final on Wednesday night.
The Legends team of Santosh, Steve and Trainer were the leading team all year and went into the final full of confidence. However the winning score line of 7-4 did not indicate the closeness of the decider.
Steve pushed Dragons captain Dale all the way dragging their match into a five setter. Dale proved too strong in the end winning the final game 11-5.
The first doubles was also a close affair going down to the wire in the deciding 5th set.
Santosh and Steve held on to defeat Dale and Steve in the final set, 13-11, in an exciting tie breaker.
Congratulations to all the players on their sportsmanship and cooperation throughout the year.

B. GRADE FINALS APPROACHING
The B Grade finals is about to commence with the Shadows and the Dragons playing each other in the elimination final.
The winner will take on the red hot Legends team which dominated the season by winning 9 of its 10 matches.
