After a big flight from Australia to Switzerland we decided to spend our arrival night in Zurich. This is how spent our morning in Zurich before heading to our main base, Interlaken.

A Boat day of some sort is a must when you’re visiting Milos for the first time!

🍽️ Save this for your Tuscany trip.

We stopped in at Castallina on our first night in Tuscany on the way to our accommodation in Chianti.

We happened to decide on this little restaurant and were so impressed with it. We’d definitely recommend stopping by if it fits into your route

Save this for your Switzerland trip 🇨🇭

It’s a BIG day, but if you’re short on time, it’s definitely possible.

Here’s how we did it:
• Catch an early train (approx 7am) from Interlaken to Zermatt, just over 2 hours with 2 changes
• If you know you’re doing the trip in advance, check out a Saver Day Pass as it may work out cheaper when booked early
• From Zermatt, take the cogwheel train up to Gornergrat for some of the best views of the Matterhorn
• We reached the top around 9:30am
• Jump off at Riffelsee on the way back down for the famous Matterhorn reflection. Just keep in mind the lake can still be frozen depending on the time of year
• Grab lunch back in Zermatt, then spend the afternoon exploring the town and walking along the river
We visited in April, so Zermatt was fairly quiet and quite a few shops were closed.

Our biggest regret was leaving before dark. We’d planned to stay for dinner and see the town lit up at night, but by about 3pm we were absolutely cooked.

If you can, we’d recommend spending a couple of nights in Zermatt. But if a day trip is all you have time for, Interlaken makes a great base and it’s 100% doable.
