It’s Make Music Day today!

MMD is an international movement, started in in France in 1982 and now celebrated on 21 June in 2000 cities throughout dozens of countries around the world. The spirit of it is for *everyone* – young, old, amateur or professional, of every musical taste or persuasion – to take part in and share music with their neighbours, community and strangers.

Our mid-year Festival Chorus Open Day is this Sunday, 21 June, at 10am.

If you would like to sing in October’s performance of Benjamin Britten’s epic War Requiem at the Sydney Opera House, come along.

Everyone is welcome at Open Day. Brett Weymark explains what’s involved in being in this community choir, there’s some fun musical exercises and pieces to sing, and you can meet some fellow choristers.

Festival Chorus rehearses every Thursday evening (6.30–9.30) in Sydney from 13 August up to the performance on 17 October.

ChorusOz *really* begins well ahead of the long weekend when the amazing team of volunteers come in to pack the choristers’ bags with their performance t-shirt, souvenir program and other goodies.

With military precision, Annie’s team will have the job done in record time. Thanks Team ChorusOz!

Rehearsals commence bright and early on Saturday when 800 choristers from every state and territory in Australia and five overseas countries converge at the Opera House.

Come and see the result on Sunday – perhaps the biggest opera cast this Opera House has ever seen for Verdi’s Aida.
