Some wonderful memories made at last weekend’s ChorusOz: Carmina Burana in Perth’s Winthrop Hall.

200 choristers from across Perth and beyond, soaring soprano Prudence Sanders, baritone James Clayton as a rollicking monk, and tenor Perry Joyce as a roasted (toasted?) swan, the OBV Studio choir, and Perth Symphony Orchestra, all under the baton of Brett Weymark.

This week, the SPC team heads to Perth, Western Australia for CHORUSOZ | CARMINA BURANA.

200 choristers from the Perth community and beyond will meet and rehearse in person for the first time this Friday evening, then on Saturday at 5pm – it’s showtime!!

Carmina Burana opens with that famous roar – O Fortuna – and then hurtles away on a wild ride through fate and fortune, the circle of life, the joys of w**e, gambling, love and lust… from huge choral roars, to gentle lullabies and rollicking drinking songs.

Brett Weymark conducts 200 choristers, star soloists and the Perth Symphony Orchestra in one of the most thrilling choral works ever written.

On 26 July, Maestro Kazuki Yamada led our 150-voice choir and the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra and CBSO Chorus in John Adams’ “human voices riding upon waves of rippling sound”, Harmonium, at the Royal Albert Hall in London.

SPC was the only Australian ensemble to appear at this year's BBC Proms Festival.

Britten’s War Requiem begins with the eerie tolling of bells; it ends in a whisper. In between we hear the lyrical ghosts of young men and a fierce denunciation of war. It might be 65 years old, but this music still speaks powerfully today.

This extraordinary musical masterpiece of the 20th century only comes around every 15 years or so. Join us for this rare opportunity to hear the War Requiem at the Sydney Opera House with a 430-voice Festival Chorus, 110-voice Sydney Philharmonia Choir, treble voices from Conservatorium High School, star soloists and Sydney Youth Orchestras, conducted by Brett Weymark.
