The last few years have been difficult...for all of us. We’ve each had our trials and met them with varying degrees of success. Loss of loved ones, supporting children, ending of relationships, workplace changes, loss of income, simply having to change to meet the requirements of a COVID world. Like you, I faced all of these challenges.
About three years ago, my dear friend and mentor, Paul Macklin (founder of Art Farm), asked me if I’d like to develop a poetry programme for Art Farm. My battered soul breathed a deep sigh of relief in response to this offering and I started researching to turn my lifelong passion for poetry into an innovative programme aimed at broadening what it means to be a Creative using poetry as a vehicle.
We formed Cockle Channel Creatives and chose the motto Poetry From Joy as I designed a programme aimed at stripping poetry of its gravitas and pretensions; encouraging others to find joy in poetry...joy in the writing, joy in the reading, joy in the sharing; to write free of judgement; to simply write for love of writing - hence the name, For Love Of Writing or FLOW. (I wanted to call it For Love Of Poetry but the acronym just didn’t work for me!!)
COVID restrictions prevented us from running programme so we continued to develop and refine FLOW so it would be ready when the world emerged from the pandemic.
Last year a grim diagnosis indicated that I may not make Christmas, so it became urgent to finish FLOW and present it at least once before popping off this mortal coil. Christmas has come and gone and the future is looking more promising. It’s not too much to say that poetry saved my life as I was able to write through my fears and grief until now, we are ready to present FLOW so on

and on the sands of
Macmasters Beach
We are looking for 6-10 friendly, creative spirits to come along; to play, learn, and enjoy broadening their concept of creativity, to free their poetic spirit and to give us their feedback about what works and what we could do better.
As a thank you, we are running the programme at cost, just enough to cover meals and your 160 page workbook full of poetry, philosophy and creative activities.
In the weeks following the FLOW weekend, we will offer coaching and
we will produce a book containing your work so you will become a published poet!!
