✨One of a kind✨
Another fun short handled shopper!

Handmade quilted tote made from a print of a famous Nobu Fujiyama painting.

I have quilted this bag with a light, soft, fluffy middle layer to add texture but remain easy to fold up small and keep in your car or even your suitcase.

Fully lined with coordinating satiny acetate fabric.

The webbing handles are strong, wide and comfortable to hold.

While researching fabrics I’ve enjoyed reading about the symbolism in Japanese culture of the ‘elegant’ Crane (longevity, good luck, and prosperity) and the ‘beautiful’ Peony (good fortune, happiness).

Hopefully the owner will enjoy good bargains and happy shopping expeditions! 😘

Today I’ve been working with a gorgeous Japanese quilting cotton by Kona Bay. (Almost finished!)

A classical painting by Nobu Fujiyama has been adapted into this luxury fabric with subtle gold metallic accents.

Fan shapes, dragonflies, cranes, and other birds are featured in the print. I love it!

SOLD🔴 I loved every minute of making this short-handled shopper.

Quilted to add texture and structure, it features a hard to source vintage cat-face print fabric designed by Valerie Leonard for Chapel Hill Fabrics (USA) in 1992.

I stitched a diamond quilting pattern using Gutermann thread colour no. 6 (sand) which was a perfect match for the fabric.

Rather than using black thread, I wanted the cats to remain the heroes of the design, allowing the quilting to enhance the fabric rather than compete with it.

For the matching handles I chose a decorative but subtle cross-stitch to echo the direction of the fabric print and the quilting.

(This bag will be hard to part with, though it’s definitely priced to sell - I really hope it goes to a lover of cats and vintage!)

Keep your special items secure in this hand-printed pouch, lined with beautiful premium cotton fabric.

Featuring the leaves and nuts of the Australian gum (eucalypts) - a symbol of protection, abundance and resilience.

From their aromatic leaves to their textured bark and distinctive nuts, this design celebrates one of the most iconic elements of our landscape.

Fraternal twin brothers, perhaps? 😂

These two Quirky Crocs are made with a gorgeous batik on one side and a coordinating bold triangular print on the other. Same fabric combination, different personalities!

Who wears it better? 😂

I always look forward to the first Wednesday of the month - Book Club night! 📚🥂

Everyone loved our last read, My Friends by Fredrik Backman. It prompted lots of discussion. I’m inspired to explore more of his books.

Next up for our group is Mad Mabel by Sally Hepworth. I’ve enjoyed several of her novels, so I’m looking forward to diving into this one. My teabag bookmark will be coming along for the ride.

I’m curious … what do you use as a bookmark?
I often discover old boarding passes and train tickets (remember them 😉) tucked inside my books, reminding me of past adventures.

There’s something special about working with vintage fabric.

This delightful cat-face print was designed by Valerie Leonard for Chapel Hill Fabrics (USA) in 1992.

I have just enough to create a single, one-of-a-kind bag (I’ve started with the handles).

I love discovering beautiful fabrics, old or new, and matching them with just the right project.

If you love owning something nobody else has, keep an eye on this one! 💙🧡🧵

This one-of-a-kind pouch was inspired by the Komebukuro - ‘Japanese rice bag’.

Great as a little project bag or gift bag.
Fully lined, the bottom half of the bag is quilted to give it structure and to highlight the koala print.
