It’s here ✨👏🏽 Seven Deadly Gins by Yvette Walker cast and crew along with Brown's Mart staff gathered at the home of Territory Performing arts this morning for a beautiful, intimate Welcome to Country from Dr Aunty Bilawara Lee. A most appropriate and very special way to begin the important journey to the stage.

Seven Deadly Gins by Yvette Walker, Co-Directed by Shari Sebbens and Ursula Yovich has its world-premiere next month in our iconic theatre.

It is beyond electric to have everyone in the space and we're deeply grateful for Aunty B's energy and guidance as we share this special story of self-love and forgiveness.

What an unforgettable evening! Thank you to everyone who attended Shakespeare & Symphony and supported this special event.

This unique collaboration between Darwin Symphony Orchestra and Brown's Mart brought together live orchestral music, powerful storytelling and some of Shakespeare’s most celebrated works. Performing to a full house was a testament to the strength of our creative community and the appetite for innovative arts experiences in the Territory.

We are incredibly grateful for the support shown by our audiences, artists, staff and partners. Your enthusiasm and generosity helped create a truly memorable event, and we look forward to sharing more inspiring performances with you in the future. Thank you for being part of the journey.

It is with great excitement that the home of Territory Performing Arts announces the 2026 Engage Recipient, Albert Belz's haunting thriller - Cradle Song.

Cradle Song by Albert Belz was inspired by true events surrounding the discovery of children's remains within the old convent grounds of the Saint Mary's Home for unmarried mothers in the Irish township of Tuam in 2017. Operated by the Bon Secours Sisters from 1925 to 1961, the institution was linked to the deaths of these 796 souls—most of them infants.

The narrative was initially fuelled by the writer’s anger at such an abuse of humanity and the most vulnerable. Albert wanted to stage Cradle Song because it speaks to universal questions, around power, faith, long standing institutional abuse, loneliness and the past haunting the present.

The play also offers rich and challenging roles for the performers, particularly through its complex female characters and emotionally layered relationships. As a Territory theatre-maker, Albert is passionate about creating ambitious local works that feel artistically bold and accessible to audiences.

New Years eve 1999 and two young Australian women are backpacking through Ireland when they find themselves taking shelter at an old convent.

Within its walls they encounter the supernatural force of a young novice nun whose grief and rage have endured for generations. Trapped between the living and the dead, the women must uncover the truth behind the haunting before history claims another victim. A supernatural drama about motherhood, loss, guilt and the fragile possibility of redemption.

👥 CHARACTERS

🔸 Hannah Moses (early–mid 20s): A bold, energetic Northern Territory woman travelling overseas.

🔸 Angie Cole (early 20s): A thoughtful young Victorian woman. A musician confronting an unexpected pregnancy and her family history.

🔸 Sister Theresa (mid–late 40s): A practical Irish nun determined to protect the convent. Irish accent preferable

🔸 Sister Eustace (early 80s): The silent former Mother Superior guarding a terrible secret. Irish Accent preferable

🔸 Bartley Clarke (early 40s): A kind-hearted local mechanic and failed preist. He’s also Sister Theresa’s younger brother. Irish Accent preferable

🧏🏽‍♀️ A native Auslan user and NAATI Certified Conference Interpreter, Susan has interpreted some of Australia’s biggest stage productions and events, including The Lion King, Wicked, Les Misérables, Mamma Mia!, War Horse, King Kong, Singin’ in the Rain, Shrek, The Wizard of Oz, the AFL Grand Final, Sydney Gay and Le***an Mardi Gras, WorldPride and the Melbourne International Comedy Festival.

Her work has taken her from major theatre companies including Sydney Theatre Company, Melbourne Theatre Company and Queensland Theatre Company to international assignments and events around the world.

Susan is also the Director of Auslan Stage Left, specialising in making theatre, live performance and cultural events accessible to Deaf audiences.

She’s delighted to be joining Seven Deadly Gins by Yvette Walker and looks forward to sharing the performance with the Deaf community!

GENIUS playwright Sandra Thibodeaux was the subject of Katalin Horompo's portrait that just won the coveted Portrait of a Senior Territorian Art Award by Tactile Arts claiming the $7000 top prize!

The work is titled ‘Storytime: Conjuring Artemisa’, aptly named after Sandra's recent research and time spent studing 17th-century Italian Baroque artist Artemisia Lomi Gentileschi for her 2025/2026 main stage production at Brown's Mart and JUTE Theatre Company, Genius.

With 35 finalists, the award showcased the expansive and enriching nature of Territory talent across a range of mediums. Congratulations to everyone who was involved from the creatives to the people recognised as well as those behind the scenes.

The exhibition is free, and open to the general public from Friday 14th August to Sunday 13th September, during Seniors Month at Parliament House.

With several years of gig and festival production experience Alyssa Nichols is driven by a strong passion for the live music industry. Ally is currently studying her Cert 4 in Live Production and Technical Services at Charles Darwin University with a focus on lighting design and programming.

Ally has already worked behind the scenes on a range of different cultural events such as the 2026 Bangladeshi Festival, Nightcliff Seabreeze Festival in 2024 and 2026 and the Latin America Festival in 2025 and 2026. She was also involved with the recent Rocky Horror Show at Charles Darwin University in 2025 and 2026.

She is excited to be working on the upcoming productions Shakespeare & Symphony and Seven Deadly Gins by Yvette Walker .

In her rare moments of spare time Ally loves metal music and is always supporting the scene as a punter or tech - catch her in the front row🤘
