DVA is committed to supporting local artists at all stages of their careers by building capacity for creative practice and fostering critical dialogue through the provision of studios, exhibition spaces, resources, and a contemporary arts program that is relevant in the local, national and international context. DVA's goals are focused on effectively supporting the development of professional prac

tice and skills for local artists through creating comprehensive, hands-on opportunities, to support the realization of quality outcomes and maturation of artistic practice, particularly in terms of curatorial refinement and professional presentation. Meet the artist: Jess Del Rosario

Jess is gallery sitting this Saturday, 10am – 2 pm. Come along to view his first solo exhibition, RejuveNature, and to hear more about his creative process and inspiration.

🌿

RejuveNature captures the raw, informal healing power of nature. For the artist, this space became a sanctuary to slow down, trading the hustle and bustle of a busy life for a more positive and fulfilling path. By opening his eyes to simple wonders of nature, he found a deeper connection to his environment.

Nature does not demand perfection; it invites us to simply be, reminding us that we are just one part of a vast creation.

Anna Reynolds – Cycad sunrise vs property development

Across the road from my home is a large parcel of land. I understand this land to be part of the Kulaluk land claim. It is beautiful and wild, and I often admire the plants and animals that I see there, recognising that a space like this in suburbia is unique. I have read that this site is of cultural significance for Larrakia and Tiwi. Recently a new fence went up around the perimeter. This was recognised by local community members that a development proposal is in the pipeline. I have heard it is going to be another Homemaker Village. I would like to see this natural space protected and cared for. I sent a couple of letters to the NT Government’s Development Assessment Services to question the development.

Ann Lane – Pirrnpirrnga - Desert Bore Ikuntji Artists

This painting depicts the ‘pin pin’ desert bore outstation near Kintore. This is Ann Lane’s father’s Tjukurrpa and country. Pirrnpirrnga has mountains, rocks and a big rockhole, where there is always water. In the Tjukurrpa the snakes are travelling around the sand hill country, looking for water. Ann remembers visiting this country and seeing her aunty singing by those rockholes.

Sticker Boy is gallery sitting at Darwin Visual Arts this Saturday 13 June, 10am-2pm.

Come down to Sticker City, a metropolis of art and cultures exploding out of stickers and canvas!
Sticker 100 is a densely packed exhibition containing intense architecture, cartoonish characters and a movement of openness and self-realisation.

Containing 100 stickers, 10 large scale art pieces and 1 multimedia piece, this gallery will catapult the new and exciting character Sticker Boy into the art world.

Cooked up, curated and cultivated by the boy himself, created for the sake of creating.

Please join us this Friday 12 June, 6-8pm, for the opening of our June exhibitions!

Here's a sneak peek of Cathy Hilder's exhibition, Under the Sea.

Under the Sea explores the colour, movement, and presence of marine life beneath the ocean surface. Working on black canvas, Cathy Hilder builds layers of luminous colour to capture the way light emerges in underwater environments.

Each painting focuses on a different subject, from octopus and clownfish to coral formations and sea turtles, observing both detail and atmosphere. The series moves between realism and imagination, including references to myth through the mermaid and traces of human history in the shipwreck. Together, the works present an immersive view of the underwater world, highlighting both its visual richness and quiet intensity.
