A most stunning morning celebrating the beautiful dry season! 😍 and our cherished City2Surf, sending a strong message to Santos: they can't hide their environmental destruction by sponsoring this event!

some more photos and stories from the masterpieces in the Sand sculpture competition at Nightcliff Seabreeze Festival last week.

This sculpture was cleverly titled 'Fishy Business'
As you can see It's pretty self-explanatory: a gas well, (on fire) surrounded by dead fish and water animals, including some mermaids. This is an expression of our communities concern about the inevitable impact of climate change and the likely toxic leakage that occurs in areas where Fracking happens.

Nearby the kids built a hermit crab sanctuary, as they said "we are going to have to work hard against extinction when the temperature rises further. And also just for fun"

More wonderful pictures and stories written in the sand at Nightcliff Seabreeze Festival.

This team ‘For The Love Of Life On Earth’ built beautiful big portraits that had an uncanny likeness to our NT political leaders in a press conference, declaring their love for gas saying to 'frack science’ and stating '9.8 Lies'..!

This masterpiece drew a lot of attention from the public who came to see the sand sculptures creating the opportunity for Darwinites to discuss what they love about the NT and what they want the future of the NT to be.

Darwin families had a great time on the Beach last Saturday as we got very creative in the sand at the Nightcliff Seabreeze Festival for the Natasha Fyles Sandsculpture competition.

There was the enthusiastic team 'Turtle Tales' with their sculpture of a trail of hand-built baby turtles carefully creating '9.8' in the sand, telling the story of one of the unmet recommendations in the Pepper Inquiry into hydraulic fracturing asking the NT governments to "seek to ensure that there is no net increase in the life cycle GHG emissions emitted in Australia from any onshore shale gas produced in the NT”.

This artistic piece was met with great interest from the public creating the opportunity for Darwinites to discuss what they love about the NT and what they want the future of the NT to be.

Repost from

Concerned Territorians today staged a die in at parliament house to express our absolute dismay grief and anger about the recent decision by Natasha Fyles and her government to open up the Territory to fracking, saying:
We are here to send a message to Natasha Fyles, to Nicole Manison, to Tamboran and all the other climate wreckers that we understand the science. We understand the consequences of their greed and their recklessness.
Antonio Guterres recently said: “Will future generations look back on our actions with happiness and gratitude or with disappointment and anger”. He says, “I want my great-great-grandaughter to know that I never stopped fighting for climate action and climate justice”
I want to ask you Natasha, what will your great-great-granddaughter think of you? In fact, when we are already seeing unprecedented weather events and disruptions to food supply, what will your children think of you? What will they think when they see devastating floods, fire and storms? What will they think we they can no longer live in the city they love because it is just too hot?

The scale of potential damage by a Mega Fracker is jaw dropping.

If gas companies like Tamboran’s plans for fracking the NT go ahead, it’d be a disaster for the climate.

Any plans to cut Australia’s emissions will be blown out of the water if new fossil fuel projects can keep being developed and new gas basins are opened up.

Let’s make sure this mega fracker can’t make it into the country.

Repost from @350.org.au

Tamboran Resources have just shipped this giant drilling machine to frack for gas in the NT this winter. The rig can drill 4km horizontally to fracture the bed rock - that's 4x bigger than existing wells currently operating, and what they have approval for.

We need to stop their destructive plans in their tracks now, sign the petition in our bio that we're collaborating with our friends in the climate movement on, and we'll deliver it to decision makers before its too late.

We dont know why the festivsl Board is not accepting the sponsorship money. It suggests the Board is either out of touch with its artists and audience, unwilling to do the simple work required to develop an ethical sponsorship policy, or its Board members, with links to the oil, coal and gas industry, remain hostage to these interests.

✊🏿✊🏽✊🏻 In this week's Spotlight of Resistance Against Corporate Power, CorpWatch takes a look at the recent victory by First Nations representatives and artists who got the fossil fuel giant Santos to withdraw from sponsoring the 2023 Darwin Festival in Australia.

♻️ "Sponsorship of community events by to***co companies was once okay but has become unacceptable. The same has happened with fossil fuel sponsorship and festivals and institutions here and overseas are waving it goodbye," Sue McKinnon, director of the McKinnon Family Foundation, said.
