Life Drawing & Sketch Club - Life Drawing With Passion. Tuesday evenings 6:30 - 9:00pm. Located near CBD. Beginners and advanced artists welcome.

Our bohemian studio in Darlinghurst is a place of joy for artists. The friendly welcome, the obvious love of drawing of all who come here - these factors make for a magic refuge from the world where artistic passion rules. Both art class and sketch club operate together and skill ranges from beginners to very advanced artists and everything in between. Fees:
Sketch Club Tuesday 6:30 - 9:00pm $15

Life Drawing Class:

Tuesday evening and the artists have gathered for another night of drawing the model. We are entertained by jazz plus the sounds of a play in rehearsal in the theater out the back. Welcome to the Bohemian life :)

Tonight sketch club is being held in the middle of an art installation. The artists are surrounded by the artist's creative vision in which musician Lou Reed is knitted into jumpers. Pop culture and wool are keeping us warm as we draw :) come see the exhibition at TAP Gallery (opens tomorrow night) and see you at sketch club next week :)

Mel Freedman is one of our regulars and he did this drawing when in Europe recently. We loved looking at his sketchbooks. He filled several while he was away. You meet the most interesting artists at sketch club. :)

Rembrandt at life drawing. This image by Constantijn Daniel van Renesse about 1650 shows the nightly sketch club Rembrandt ran. He is in center with crossed leg. Life drawing has a long tradition since the Renaissance. Today life drawing is just as popular as it has ever been. We love our time with the model.

Every day is art-day but Tuesdays are special because the model is here and it is time for life drawing. I wish we could have a model every night :)

The joy of life drawing is seeing the different visions of different artists. It would be dull if we all made art that looked like everyone else's. No worry about that in our studio. Individual creativities reign supreme. Vie de l'artistes fous! (Life of the mad artists)

Artists are unpredictable but I love them. Tonight at start time there was just me and the model but one at a time they came in and the studio got that sound of music and buzzy feeling of creative juices flowing that makes sketch club so much fun.

Bringing the paper to life. It seems the colder it gets outside the warmer the artistic passions run in our studio. I love our Tuesday sketch club.

ARTISTS AT WORK! A steady pile of new drawings build behind the easels as the life drawing session progresses. Art is food for the soul, so we are primary producers but no cows and tractors in sight. Just the lines of the model and the aspiration to make poetry out of charcoal, paper, ink and brushes. Another Tuesday night in the studio...

Winter cold is not enough to keep these dedicated artists from drawing the model on a Tuesday night. Artistic fire keeps us all warm. Another great night at sketch club!
