From intimate concerts aboard century-old paddle steamers to Indigenous cultural celebrations beneath ancient desert ranges, Australia's regional festival scene is full of extraordinary experiences that deserve a little extra attention.

Dozens of regional events have been quietly building loyal audiences year after year, cementing their place on the mantle of community institutions powered by passionate organisers, volunteers, and local businesses.

Whether you're chasing the familiar twang of country music beneath outback skies, the quaint familiarity of folk performances in historic villages or the wonder Indigenous storytelling projected across ancient landscapes, you’ll find it at one of these festivals.

Our list is:

1. Riverboats Music Festival (Echuca-Moama, VIC)
2. Port Fairy Folk Festival (Port Fairy, VIC)
3. Savannah In The Round (Mareeba, QLD)
4. Garma Festival (Arnhem Land, NT)
5. Parrtjima – A Festival In Light (Alice Springs, NT)
6. Australian Festival Of Chamber Music (Townsville / North QLD)
7. Mundi Mundi Bash (Broken Hill, NSW)

A great local event!!!

We've always thought the best sound at this festival is a local one.

A number of performance slots for 2027 are reserved for Huon Valley and Channel-based performers as first preference. If you play, sing, dance or otherwise hold a crowd, we want to hear from you!

Entertainment EOIs are now open. 🎶

The Geelong Folk Festival will be our last chance this weekend to sing together for a few months.
Here's a photo of us singing lustily - eyes closed, as many of us tend to do when we're really feeling a song - at the Cygnet Folk Festival, which happened miraculously during Covid - January, 2020, when the virus hadn't really made it to Tassie by then.
On Sunday, we'll be on the Main Stage around 2.40pm. at the Geelong W Town Hall.
Hope to have your company. :)
