💙 BEACHY TREASURES 💙

Check out these beautiful finished artworks created by Mullaloo Surf Club members and friends at yesterday’s inspired workshop.

Each artwork depicts a piece of ‘surf club life’ and has a little gold starfish painted within. 🤩

The titles include:

🌊 MULLALOO MAGIC 🌊

Sunday afternoon was my first workshop in almost 12 months!

It was a BIG one, with 45 members and friends from Mullaloo Surf Club, each creating a little piece of Mullaloo magic. 💙

These bright, beachy artworks in progress were inspired by the wonderful UK artist, Mary Donald 💙☀️🌊⛱️🐚

💙💛🤍 VOLUNTEERS 🤍💛💙

This group of mermaids, from Mullaloo Surf Club, are among a group of fellow volunteers who maintain the beach access mat at Mullaloo, during the spring and summer months. 🧜🏻‍♀️💙☀️

Due to Mother Nature, the beach access mat (aka ‘The Big Blue Mat’) often requires daily maintenance, in order for beach users to access it safely. This means early mornings, shovelling sand, lifting and rolling the mat to flatten the sand underneath, hammering in pegs to keep it securely in place, and sweeping sand from its surface. 💨🔨🧹💪

Mornings on the beach are the best way to start the day! 🌊🐚🙌☕️

Coastal Creatives donated this art workshop to the Mullaloo Surf Club ‘Mat Crew’ in recognition of their commitment throughout the season. 💙💛🤍

So proud of the colourful jellyfish artworks they each created! 🪼🙌

🧡 PETER RYAN WORKSHOP 🧡

Over the weekend, I attended a workshop fundraiser hosted by local artist, Peter Ryan.


Such a fun night with a few of my girlfriends and the BEST pizzas made by Nat, Peter’s wife. 😋🍕🥂

Thank you for making everyone feel so welcome in your home and for sharing your expertise. All the best to the Year 10 footy boys, hope they enjoy their trip to Melbourne! 🏉✈️🖤💛

👩‍🎨 THROW BACK 👩‍🎨

Back in the 90’s, during my university days studying to be a teacher, I chose as many art electives as I could. 👩‍🎨

I was lucky enough to have Judith Dunham as a lecturer for several of my visual art units. One of our assignments was to paint ‘en plein air’ (painting outdoors with the subject in full view) at Kings Park, which overlooks Perth city. ☀️

These three oil paintings on board, inspired by the Impressionists, were selected for Edith Cowan University’s art exhibition in 1995. 🤓

🐙 OCTOPUS WORKSHOP 🐙

These colourful underwater creatures were created with such thought and care by each young artist. ✍️

They took time to draw the octopus using pencil, pressing lightly and filling the page. Watercolour paints were added, using the wet on wet technique, creating some wonderful effects. The final touches were added using paint pens to create a variety of lines and details to enhance their work.

All such beautiful, eye-catching pieces, well done! 👏🐙🤩

So impressed with these colourful .art inspired Leopard Whipray pieces created during last week’s workshop. 🙌🏻✍️🌊💜

It was also lovely seeing lots of familiar faces back in the studio! 🫶🙏🌵
