GOLF TIP: Swing Tempo - The Hidden Key to Consistency
One of the most overlooked fundamentals in golf is swing tempo. Tempo is the rhythm and timing of your swing, not how fast you swing, but how smoothly you transition from backswing to downswing.

Many golfers chase positions and mechanics, but poor tempo can make even a technically sound swing inconsistent. Think of tempo like a song. The best players in the world all have their own “beat,” but it stays consistent. Ernie Els and Nelly Korda are perfect examples, smooth, balanced, and effortless.

Their swings look controlled, but they generate plenty of power because their sequencing is efficient. A rushed backswing often leads to poor weight shift, loss of balance, and an overactive upper body.

On the other hand, a tempo that’s too slow can cause hesitation and a poor strike. The goal is finding a pace where the club, body, and pressure shift all work together. A great way to improve tempo is think of a favourite song or even say a catchy phrase “Er-nie Els” or “Co-ca Cola” are great examples of phrases that create ideal rhythm. Remember, power comes from sequence, not speed.

A better tempo leads to better contact, better balance, and ultimately lower scores.

We’re passionate about helping more women feel confident giving golf a go. That’s why we’ve created a clear pathway to help you learn at your own pace. Start with our three week Introduction to Golf clinic, where we provide all the equipment and teach you the basics in a relaxed, supportive setting.

Progress to our 10 week clinic, giving you more time to develop your skills, learn about rules and scoring, and begin making your way onto the course.

FIFA World Cup 2026 FootGolf Special at Curlewis Golf Club
The FIFA World Cup only comes around once every four years, and while the world's best footballers are battling it out on the biggest stage, we're celebrating a little closer to home with a special offer of our own.

From 11 June to 19 July, Curlewis Golf Club is turning the spotlight on one of the Bellarine's most fun and family friendly activities with our FIFA World Cup FootGolf Special.

Every Sunday from 2pm, adults can play for just $15 and under 15s for only $10.

What is FootGolf?
If you've never played before, FootGolf combines the simplicity of football with the strategy of golf. Players kick a soccer ball around a golf course, aiming to reach oversized cups in as few kicks as possible.

No golf clubs are required and no previous experience is needed. If you can kick a ball, you can play FootGolf. It's easy enough for first timers, competitive enough for seasoned players and guaranteed to create plenty of laughs along the way.

Fun for All Ages
One of the biggest reasons FootGolf has become so popular is that it genuinely appeals to everyone. Children can compete alongside parents. Groups of friends can turn a casual round into a serious contest. Grandparents can join in and enjoy the challenge without needing specialist equipment or years of experience.
