Community Engagament with

Today was a lovely day spent with my Catapult mentor Laura.

I was able to learn from Laura's style of workshop facilitation, where school students who are working in partnership with their local council, explored exercises and developed works of art on a project exploring the theme of "home".

Students will develop artworks across the District and later exhibit these in a group exhibit, giving young people a voice in expressing their connection to place and their home.

I also spent time in Laura's incredible studio, experimenting with new materials and discussing different community based projects Laura has been involved in.

Our mentorship which has been based on the theme of community engagement and visual storytelling has really helped me to grow and I am very thankful for this opportunity

How lovely to receive a postcard from friends 🥰

Sadly I couldnt make Powerful Women exhibit

But what a delight it was today to open the mail to receive a postcard of my artwork featured in the exhibit, signed by my lovely Nebula Friends from our journey.

Living in the country can sometimes feel a little isolating and lonely. But small acts of kindness can make such a difference. Art friends for life :) how lucky I was for Nebula in 2023.

Thank you .slape19 for your lovely gesture

“I Can Buy Myself Flowers”
50cm x 60cm
Acrylic on framed Tasmanian Oak Canvas

I Can Buy Myself Flowers reflects a generational shift in how women understand autonomy, love, and self-worth. Inspired by the song by Miley Cyrus, the work speaks to a contemporary acceptance that women are no longer defined by their relationship status, and that independence whether emotional, social, and financial, can be a source of dignity rather than deficiency.

The painting also looks backward. In my grandmother’s generation, divorce was deeply stigmatised, and economic dependence often limited women’s choices, even within harmful or unhappy marriages. At ninety years old, my Nan represents a generation of women whose strength was often quiet, enduring, and unseen.

This work does not reject love or partnership. Instead, it honours relationships where two people meet in mutual respect, care, and equality, while also acknowledging that fulfillment does not require endurance at the cost of selfhood.

The floral forms in this work are deliberately bold and expressive, emerging from a darkened background. The darkness is intentional, it sits behind the blooms as something acknowledged rather than denied. Here, it becomes a space of contrast, resilience, and choice.

This work is dedicated to women past and present who have navigated fragile or violent domestic spaces. It offers recognition, hope, and a quiet affirmation: that autonomy is not selfish, survival is not weakness, and choosing honour and respect, whether in love or in solitude, is a rightful act.

This work will be exhibited in “Powerful Women (Kin)” curated by at Coral Street Art Space Victor Harbor from Friday 6th February- Saturday 28th March.

Can’t wait to be a part of this special exhibit at Coral Street Art Space.

Natswim Mural, “In Our Care” Port Lincoln — now complete 💙

This beautiful, family-owned Eyre Peninsula business teaches our community one of the most important life skills: how to swim.

The inspiration for this mural was our ocean.

While painting, my son asked, “Mum, why are the sea animals only outlines?”
I told him, “They’re outlines to remind us of their fragility. Our oceans are beautiful — but imagine what they would be like without our sea animals.”
He paused and said, “Yeah… that would be sad. I love our sea animals.”

The mural features local sea life including the stingray, tuna, humpback whale, seahorse and dolphin, with flowing currents in the background of colourful seaweed of varying shapes.

Learning to swim comes with a quiet responsibility — to care for the oceans that give us so much, so they can be enjoyed for generations to come.

This mural named “In Our Care” speaks to a reflection on the ocean, its fragility, and the responsibility we hold as we swim in the oceans currents.

Happy New Year 🙂

Looking back on 2025, I had so much to be thankful for. As a business owner, I first want to thank my clients who commissioned me and trusted me with their vision to fulfill private artworks and murals 🙂

I love what I do, creating art and engaging with community to tell their story.

Looking forward to 2026, the quote that resonates the most for me is “Be the change you want to see in the world.” (Mahatma Gandhi)

May you feel empowered to dream, to hope, to step out into the direction you envision, and to practice, practice, practice your craft until what once seemed unattainable feels completely natural.

What are you looking forward to in 2026?

Happy New Year 🙂
