Our entry for this year’s Threatened Species Bake Off! 🎂

This year, our amazing staff wanted to represent a range of threatened species through their creative cake designs. 🦇🪿🐢

A delicious way to celebrate these incredible species while raising awareness of the threats they face and the importance of protecting them.

Ghost Bat — Vulnerable
Threats include habitat loss, disturbance of roosting caves and changes to their food supply.

Bush Stone-curlew — Vulnerable in SA and Endangered in NSW & VIC
They face threats including habitat loss, introduced predators and disturbance.

Numbat — Endangered
The biggest threats to numbats are introduced predators, particularly feral cats and foxes, as well as habitat loss.

Cape Barren Goose — Vulnerable in NSW & VIC
Threats include habitat loss, disturbance and changes to their island and coastal habitats.

Platypus — Near Threatened and Endangered in SA
Platypus face threats from habitat degradation, changes to waterways, drought and other impacts on freshwater ecosystems.

Green Turtle — Vulnerable
They face threats from habitat loss, pollution, climate change, bycatch and disturbance of nesting beaches.

Want to get involved? There’s still time to enter this year’s Threatened Species Bake Off — entries close 15th of September!

Every species has a story, and every species is worth protecting. 💚

Today is Threatened Species Day — a day to recognise Australia’s threatened wildlife and raise awareness of the importance of protecting these species for future generations.
Tasmanian Devils are listed as Endangered and face a number of threats in the wild. The most significant is Devil Facial Tumour Disease (DFTD), a contagious cancer that has caused major declines in wild populations. Habitat loss and vehicle strikes also continue to put pressure on wild devils.
The good news? Conservation efforts are giving devils hope. 🐾 The Save the Tasmanian Devil Program is working to protect wild populations, manage disease and support their recovery.
