Iโ€™m absolutely thrilled to be taking part in InStudio Art Trail for the first time this year, and canโ€™t wait to welcome visitors ๐Ÿ’–๐Ÿง‘๐Ÿผโ€๐ŸŽจ๐Ÿ’–

๐ŸŽจ **Meet the Artists of the 2026 InStudio Art Trail** ๐ŸŽจ

For more than 50 years, **Liisa Gosper** has drawn inspiration from the natural world, developing a distinctive artistic voice that celebrates the beauty, character, and wonder of Australia's landscapes and wildlife.

Working primarily in soft pastels, Liisa brings remarkable life and vibrancy to her subjectsโ€”from colourful native birds and beloved wildlife to the quiet majesty of the Australian bush. Her work reflects a deep observation of nature and a commitment to continually exploring new techniques and creative possibilities.

As both an accomplished artist and tutor, Liisa continues to challenge the boundaries of a traditional medium, creating contemporary works rich in colour, light, and emotion.

Visit Liisa during the InStudio Art Trail and experience firsthand the passion, skill, and connection to nature that shines through every piece.

Looking forward to being part of the InStudio Art Trail this year in August, for the first time ๐Ÿง‘๐Ÿผโ€๐ŸŽจ
Itโ€™s the most wonderful experience, driving the lovely rural roads of our region, taking in the gorgeous views along the way ๐Ÿคฉ

๐Ÿฆ **A Familiar Face of the Northern Downs** ๐Ÿฆ

As preparations continue for the 2026 InStudio Art Trail, artist **Liisa Gee** is busy in the studio bringing local wildlife to life through her beautiful pastel work.

This striking **Grey-crowned Babbler** is one of several new pieces currently taking shape. Anyone who has spent time in our region may recognise these lively native birds, known for their constant chatter, close family bonds, and entertaining antics as they forage across the ground together.

Liisa's work captures not only the beauty of the bird itself but also the character and spirit of the local landscape we call home.

Visit Liisa during the InStudio Art Trail this August and discover the stories, wildlife, and natural beauty that inspire her artwork.

EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST

โ€œDrawing is the foundation of all artโ€

Iโ€™m certainly not the first to say it, and I definitely wonโ€™t be the last.

Over the many years of holding and attending art workshops, and tutoring private adult art classes, Iโ€™ve witnessed so many who feel the need to trace or grid their initial foundation sketch. Even some online professional Tutors encourage tracing or gridding, and many who undertake Commissioned pieces use it to fast track their process.

While I understand itโ€™s use entirely, Iโ€™ve learned that, in the long run, tracing or gridding actually takes LONGER than freehand drawing, when youโ€™ve taken the time to practice it.

Iโ€™ll freely admit, there are no shortcuts. It does take time and practice, but the more you do it, the easier it gets.

Required materials will be very minimal to keep the cost down.

Let me know if youโ€™d be interested in a one day Workshop, and if there are sufficient numbers, Iโ€™ll organise a venue ๐Ÿ™‚๐Ÿง‘๐Ÿผโ€๐ŸŽจ๐Ÿ™‚

Judi is a FABULOUS artist ๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŒŸ

โœจ Meet the Artist: Judi Edwards โœจ

For Judi Edwards, painting is all about chasing light โ€” those fleeting, spectacular moments that transform a landscape and leave a lasting impression.

Inspired by extensive travels through outback Australia and time spent camping in remote places, Judiโ€™s work captures the atmosphere, colour and emotion of the Australian landscape with energy and warmth.

From glowing horizons to vivid native flora and expansive scenery, her paintings reflect both a deep appreciation for nature and a desire to hold onto those unforgettable moments in time.

One of the joys of the InStudio Art Trail is discovering artists whose work is shaped by the landscapes and experiences of our country.

This August 2026, come explore the studios, meet the artists and experience the creativity thriving throughout our region.

With less than 2 months to go, momentum is building in the studio, in preparation for InStudio Art Trail ๐Ÿง‘๐Ÿผโ€๐ŸŽจ and the countdown is on ๐Ÿคฉ
This Grey Crowned Babbler is just one of several works currently in progress, using soft pastels on a 30x30 stretched canvas ๐Ÿง‘๐Ÿผโ€๐ŸŽจ
Thereโ€™s a very sociable and territorial family group of Babblers here, who are most entertaining to watch, while they hop across the ground, digging into the dirt in search of food, chattering and squeaking away amongst themselves. The young fledglings often play together in dust bowls of dirt, tumbling over each other, while the adults keep watch for predators.
Theyโ€™re just one of the local residents youโ€™re likely to encounter when you visit during Art Trail in August ๐Ÿง‘๐Ÿผโ€๐ŸŽจ

Have you ever spent 20 hours on a commission, only for the client to change their mind at the very last second? ๐Ÿ’”

Weโ€™ve all been there. It starts with an excited DM: "I love your work! Can you paint my dog?" You jump straight in, buy the canvas, spend your nights painting the perfect likeness, and then the message arrives: "Actually, can you paint it in this style and with a different colour scheme. ๐Ÿ˜ฑ

Suddenly, youโ€™re left with a custom painting you can't sell and a hole in your bank account from the materials.

Commissioning a work should be a joyful, collaborative experience for both you AND your client. But that joy only happens when there is a clear system in place.

On the Pop'd Art Hub, Iโ€™ve shared my Professional Commission Workflow:
โœ… Why you should NEVER pick up a brush without a non-refundable deposit.
โœ… How to set up a "Commissions" page on your website that manages expectations for your client.
โœ… Why a one-page "Project Proposal" is your best friend.

โฌ†๏ธIโ€™ve even included a FREE Project Proposal Template that you can download and use for all your new clients.
