🌊 THE MEMORY OF WATER 🌊

This November, Clock & Spiel Productions returns to Flight Path Theatre with The Memory of Water by Shelagh Stephenson — a darkly funny and deeply tender exploration of family, grief and the stories we tell ourselves about our past.

As Mary, Catherine and Teresa return to their childhood home for their mother’s funeral, memories begin to unravel, and the boundary between remembrance and reality starts to blur. Winner of the Laurence Olivier Award for Best New Comedy, The Memory of Water balances riotous humour with moments of profound tenderness, asking what happens when the stories we have carried with us for a lifetime begin to change.

And this one feels particularly special to us: 2026 marks 10 years of Clock & Spiel Productions. For a decade, we’ve been making and championing theatre that is distinctive, culturally daring and truly human, and this beautifully complicated deep dive into family and memory is no exception.

Thank you to everyone who came along to see Instructions for Correct Assembly in all its glitchy, heartfelt, painfully human glory.

It really does take a village to raise a child… and in this case, Max and Hari’s child was assembled, tested, and emotionally processed on stage thanks to your contributions, our cast, crew, audience and collaborators.

In a world that increasingly feeds us curated perfection and algorithm-approved opinions, live theatre remains one of the few places where we can gather IRL to feel something true. To sit beside strangers. To hear perspectives we might not otherwise encounter. To be reminded that we are not alone, in our grief, our questions, or our hope.

We are so, so grateful you came.
