Hey everyone, long time no see. After much internal discussion, it seems likely that the UWA Pantomime Society will either pause or cease operation going into the next semester. In case that happens, the society is starting an archival project to ensure as much of our history remains alive as possible, and we need your help.

Panto's google drives are labyrinths of chaos and turmoil (imagine the WH40K warp), and unfortunately there isn't enough time to go through everything in the drive to figure out what needs archiving. Certainly, there are some things that very obviously should be archived (minutes, public documents, advertising materials ect.), and we'll identify as much of that as possible. But for the obscure stuff, we'll need your help in knowing exactly what to go looking for. If you want to submit a request for this, please use the following form:

To make sure we get as much history as possible, send this to every panto-adjacent person you've ever known! Know a guy whose friend took part in a panto show 14 years ago? Send it to them, and everyone they also know: we want to find all the most obscure bits of Panto's history!

- Where and when?
Auditions will be held on the 24th on UWA campus in the Sue Boyd room, between 9am-1pm. You'll be offered a timeslot by the directors after you fill out the form.

- How do I sign up?
Scan the QR code in the top right, or go to https://forms.gle/b4sZzJQV8ojFYFeG9 and fill out the form.

- Do I need to prepare anything?
Yes, please prepare a short (1-3 minute) monologue and familiarise yourself with the below excerpts. You will not be required to memorise the excerpts. You'll receive a link to further instructions and these excerpts when contacted after filling out the form.

- I can't make it then, can I audition online?
Yes! If you fill out the form and express the need to audition online, you'll be offered the chance to do so, and instructed on how.

- Do I need to be over 18 to participate?
Yes. While the content of this show is kid-friendly, we're a society of student volunteers who (frankly) aren't qualified to look after children.

In the far-off and hard-up town of Huffledump, the penniless mayor is trying to persuade his daughter Goldilocks to marry the snooty son of Duke Rumbleguts, the richest and rudest lord in the kingdom. Goldilocks, however, doesn't want to get married - she wants to become an adventurer, fighting monsters and protecting the townspeople with a sword and a smile.
After a small animal she rescues from a hunter turns out to be a powerful nature spirit, Goldilocks is given the chance to do exactly what she's always wanted. The spirit offers her three wishes as thanks for saving its life, so Goldilocks starts wishing all her problems away. However, she quickly learns that magical solutions are more complicated than they appear - especially if you're wishing for something too big or too small. Will Goldilocks be able to save her town and escape the Duke's clutches by making a wish that's just right?

She's not like other pantos

Supernova Metalrose has been declared the Chosen One, destined to overthrow the evil Overlord that rules her Dystopian world with an iron fist. But when Nova, her best friend El and her two hot love interests fall into an alternate dimension, she will set out on a desperate quest to return home and reclaim her status as the main character. Nova must cross the four realms of YA Fiction, fighting zombies, werewolves and vampires, meeting h***y fanfic writers, and eventually, learning the truth about her world.

UWA Panto is currently on the lookout for people to join our production teams for our upcoming Fringe shows: Goldilocks and the Three Wishes, and Generic YA Dystopia. The shows will be in 2025 on 30th Jan to 3rd Feb.

You do not need experience for any of these roles!

A mean old ogre who’d rather be left alone to eat pizza pockets in peace and quiet, but whose ogre-sized heart makes it impossible for him to stand by when someone needs his help. The Captain is often rude and dismissive, especially to people who try to disrupt his comfortable life. He thinks his own jokes are hilarious. However, you know the old saying - ogres have layers! Shrek grows and softens over the course of the show, learning to recognise the value of friendship and coming out of his stinky shell.
