🪷 Therapy I explore creative practices that invite everyday wonder, and are grounded in place, embodiment, and love for the textures and thresholds of the living world.

Art for me begins with the body, with sensation, touch, and the natural expression of hands meeting material. From there, it reaches outward to the textures of earth, the rhythm of tides, and the vastness of sky and stars, creating a dialogue between movement, matter, and meaning.

Live Differently, Touch the Algae. I loved writing this article, published now in Studio Drifts. It enabled me to dive deep into my visceral responses to seaweed, the discomfort and the beauty, and to connect more fully to our embodied entanglement. You can find it on my website. I would love for you to read it.

Art. Body. Place.

🌿If you're new here, welcome. If you've been following my gallery journey for a while, I'm glad you've stayed.

This is the home of my ecological arts practice on Millowl / Phillip Island, Bunurong / Boon Wurrung Country. It is a place for original paintings, photography, wallpaper and textile design, as well as the workshops, ideas, and conversations that grow alongside them.

Throughout this work, you'll find the threads of creative arts and somatic therapy woven naturally through the process: reflections on embodiment, creativity, connection, and the ways art can help us engage more deeply with ourselves, with each other, and with the places we inhabit.

I will no longer be maintaining a separate therapy page. It was largely inactive, and I prefer to discuss individual support in ways that better protect privacy and allow for more meaningful connection. Since opening Living Space Studio Gallery, I have also come to see that this work does not sit apart from my arts practice — it belongs within it.

Whether you're here to view the work, collect art, explore ideas, or join an upcoming workshop, you're in the right place.

The new Island Folk collection explores observed species and imagined presence on Millowl/Phillip Island through the distinctive visual language of the Mirrorscape Method™.

In conversation with place and with historical textile and wallpaper traditions, including the work of William Morris and the Art Nouveau and Art Deco movements, the collection explores the ongoing tensions between the living world and contemporary technologies. Grounded in an earthy organicism, the beauty of structure and pattern is offset by an abiding presence that resists containment.

"Such reciprocity is the very structure of perception." — David Abram

“Focused vision confronts us with the world whereas peripheral vision envelops us in the flesh of the world.” — Juhani Pallasmaa

Living Space has new visitors.

What would it mean to share your home with this butterfly? Not as a static object but as a living relationship that moves across your table, holds your walls, immersing your body through presence and attention.

Looking at something is an event between, living with something is a different event again.

Island Folk is a collection drawn from the birds, insects and other animals of Millowl / Phillip Island. Each one begins as an encounter on this island. Meet Butterfly — the first of the series — on the table at Living Space.

From Wednesday, wallpaper and fabric samples from the Island Folk collection are available to view in store, with the Butterfly wallpaper and tablecloth live online tonight.

More Island Folk to come. đź”— Link in bio via Artful Weave or subscribe to learn more.

Still Bird — oil on canvas, 76 × 61cm.

Lush, lingering, a little unsettling. Still Bird asks how beauty is witnessed and perceived. And reminds us that we, too, are watched and seen, in our beauty and otherwise.

Available to view in person at Living Space Studio Gallery, Newhaven. Or see Alisoun Neville Art via link in bio.
