The Ferrymans Journey.
So I think about death. A lot. But not in the doom and gloom way. To me, the constant hand of her ever looming presence on my shoulder is so bloody freeing.
Scared to start something new? Who cares. Worried about what someone thinks? Doesn't matter.
Concerned you're looking like a dick on social media? Well let me tell you something. We all have our ticket stamped and paid for, but don't forget the 🪙.
This boat reflects that for me. The paddles, like the hands of a clock, the moon's craters are anatomically correct, but I flipped it upside down for the spirit world. The blood moon, untreated rust, forever decaying and changing like the cycles of the moon.
So whenever I look at this, I think "what am I going to do with today". Tomorrow isn't guaranteed.
Like always, this is art, maybe you just love it or hate it because it's a pretty boat, or it reminds you of a romantic date in Italy 🤷
This one will be available in the Ludlow art prize comp in 2 weeks. If you're local get down to check it out, otherwise if it doesn't sell there get in touch and I'll let you know where it is!
The wonderful Misty mocked up this moon concept as I was unsure what to mount it on, and I loved it! We both always seem to be drawn to similar themes, so go check out her account for some epic viking, nautical and all round epic art. Insta has glitched so I can't tag her but I'll pin her account in the comments!
